Metal & Dust Lyrics

[Verse 1: London Grammar]
And so, you built a life on trust
Though it starts with love and lust

And when your house begins to rust
Oh, it's just metal and dust

[Bridge 1: London Grammar]
We argue, we don't fight
We argue, we don’t fight

[Verse 2: London Grammar]
And all foundation that we made
Built to last, they disintegrate

And when your house begins to rust
Oh, it's just metal and dust

[Chorus: London Grammar]
We argue, we don't fight
Stay awake to the middle of the night

Stay awake to the middle of the night
We argue, we don't fight
Stay awake to the middle of the night
Stay awake to the middle of the night

[Post-Chorus: London Grammar]
We don't argue
[Refrain 1: London Grammar]
We argue, we don't fight
Stay awake to the middle of the night
Stay awake to the middle of the night

[Bridge 2: London Grammar]
We don't argue

[Refrain 2: London Grammar]
We argue, we don't fight
Stay awake to the middle of the night
Stay awake to the middle of the night

[Outro: London Grammar]
We don't argue
We don't argue (And never)
We don't argue

What did London Grammar say about "Metal & Dust"?
Genius Answer

According to Songfacts, in a Beats 1 interview, Hannah Reid explained how LG wrote the song:

That was a really early one, before we even signed a record deal I think, Dan had written the guitar part, and then I kind of wrote the top line. We did spend two years on a few different versions of it, kind of piecing it together.
