May 24 to 26 – “Festival da Caldeirada e do Mar” in Armação de Pêra, an event which shines the spotlight on Portugal’s traditional ‘caldeirada’ stews, which are usually made with fish and seafood. Participating restaurants: Marisqueira Hera, Churrasqueira Balbino, Restaurante O Silvense, Restaurante A Grelha, Restaurante Praia com Tempero, Restaurante Estrela do Mar, Restaurante O Walter, Restaurante O Pelintra, Churrasqueira O Casarão, Bistro 1956, Restaurante Olivalmar, Papa Restaurante and Restaurante Tasca’Lado. There will be live music and entertainment at the participating restaurants during the event

May 24 to 26 – Terra de Maio – Goat Fair. Experience the knowledge and flavours associated with Algarvia goats in a program that includes concerts, arts and crafts, traditional products, taverns with regional cuisine, animal exhibitions, cheese making, cooking demos, folklore, children’s entertainment and concerts. May 26 – Spring Fair at Museu do Traje in São Brás de Alportel. With more than 70 stalls, the fair will be open from 10am-4pm. Visitors will be able to buy a wide range of creative products ranging from ceramics to soap, and jewellery to knitwear, hand painted greetings cards, regional sweets and delicacies, aromatic oils and spices, and handmade clothing. The Fair is also an opportunity to support local charities and community groups. You can help raise funds for a variety of charities and causes including money to help neuter and rehome the abandoned dogs and cats of São Brás and to support the local Scout group. A range of tasty meals and snacks will be available

May 25 – Lagos Fisherman’s Day Celebrations. Every year, the community is invited to celebrate Fisherman’s Day, with the blessing of the boats taking place at 4pm, followed by a trip to Ponta da Piedade and a social event in Meia Praia’s 25 de Abril neighbourhood from 7pm. Free admission

Until May 25 – 13th Algarve Design Meeting. The event will promote various activities, including conferences, exhibitions, workshops, pop-up shops, Projeto Montra, Alumni Talks, a videomapping festival, and many great entertainers in the Lounge space. Until May 31 – “There’s Night in the Market” at Portimão Market. “H(à) Noite no Mercado” event taking place from 8pm includes the participation of a DJ with music from the 1980s, followed by a performance by fado singers. As in previous years, there will be mornings dedicated to ‘showcookings’, while the flower and fruit sectors will be running promotions every Friday and Saturday in May
