This is done mostly through the eyes of the Travelers, a pair of separated twin siblings. You'll play as either Lumine or Aether, and during your journey to find your sibling will encounter many other interesting people that can join your party.

¹ This is based on the fact he sees Klee as a younger sister after he was taken in by her mother Alice. He's also described as a "young man" and is of legal drinking age.
² Based on player theories and speculation.
³ Estimated based on her being 14 when she got Electro Vision but having had no visions in two years, according to the main story.
⁴ Based on her having fought in the Archon Wars.
⁵ Estimated based on player speculation about her being slightly younger than Diluc, who she calls Senpai, as he used to be her superior in the Knights of Favonius.
⁶ His father died when he was 18 and in the manga, Lisa says his father has been dead for 3-4 years.
⁷ Estimated based on his lore update in 1.2 that says he is now a young adult.
⁸ Venti was an elemental being during the Archon War but took on the appearance of an underage soldier who died in battle.
Althaitham
Althaitham is the scribe for the Sumeru Akademiya. This means he is responsible for sorting, classifying, and archiving important documents. He has a steady job, a nice house and a comfortable life, with the impression given that he's been in his job for a while. This is likely due to the fact he is incredibly capable, and keeps a low profile, as well as keeping the Akademiya's secrets.
He is said to have refused a Divine Knowledge Capsule, prefering to discover things through traditional study. Although he chooses only to learn about things that capture his interest.
Kamisato Ayaka
Kamisato Ayaka is the eldest daughter of the Kamisato Clan of the Yashiro Commission. She has a high social standing and this is shown from the moment we meet her.
Being in charge of internal and external affairs keeps her busy. She's described as being as wise and strong as she is beautiful and elegant. She also cares a great deal about those around her. While Thoma is her assistant she's keen to convey that he is also a friend.
Kamisato Ayato
As the eldest son, Kamisato Ayato is the leader of the Kamisato Clan, as well as being the Yashiro Commissioner. He's the older brother of Ayaka and prefers to live a low-key life, rarely venturing out in public.
He has a lot in common with Ayaka, being mature, steadfast, and caring towards those from all walks of life. Ayoto values loyalty and family, having risked his life for his sister in the past.
Albedo
Albedo, also known as the Kreideprinz, is an alchemist with a huge thirst for knowledge. This has led him to the position of Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team for the Knights of Favonius in Mondstadt. He is assisted by Sucrose and Timaeus, and loves investigating and understanding obscure knowledge from generations of scholars who came before him.
Aside from this, he is also an artist and while he has illustrated Xingqiu's novels, many of his pieces are unfinished. Most of his energy is said to be spent sorting out Klee's chaos. He was recently revealed to be hiding a huge secret about his identity, one that is likely to impact future storylines.
Amber
Carrying the lost practice of being an Outrider, Amber is the last of their kind among the Knights of Favonius. Impressively, she's also the three-time champion of Mondstadt's Gliding Championship.
She's friendly and cheerful, passionate about what she does, ever-eager, and straight to the point. Amber lives by the Knights code and is unafraid to tackle anything that comes her way.
Arlecchino
Arlecchino is the fourth Fatui Harbinger, and director of the House of the Hearth, an orphanage which raises abandoned children to be Fatui. Usually referred to as "Father" by the orphans, she also uses the code name "The Knave".
She's a graceful figure, who is cordial to others. While strict, her policies are more lenient than the previous director, allowing her to command more respect from the orphans. She also cares about both them and her homeland of Fontaine deeply, becoming angered if either are threatened.
Baizhu
Biazhu is the distinctive-looking owner of Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue Harbor. He is known for being compassionate, skilled when it comes to solving health issues, and for wearing a white snake named Changsheng around his shoulders. His reputation is such that even the adeptus are aware of his knowledge and wisdom.
Biazhu is also the guardian of Qiqi, having taken her in when he found her wandering in the hills, with no memory and difficulty performing basic tasks. Alongside his medical pursuits he is interested in understanding eternal life, something he got deeper into after Qiqi came into his life.
Barbara
Barbara is Jean's younger sister who wishes she could be as talented (and as tall) as Jean. She is the deaconess of the Church of Favonius, vowing to make Mondstadt's citizens feel better emotionally and physically.
She's a beacon of joy and known for her love of music. She's a self-proclaimed 'idol' and her music has been embraced by the community, although it took some time.
Beidou
Captain of the Crux Fleet, Beidou's strength and command come from years of experience as one of the eldest among the playable characters cast.
Genshin Impact: A Guide To Underwater Exploration
Fontaine requires a lot of underwater exploration. We show you how to dive in Genshin Impact, and what you'll find.
Said to be able to bring even the most chaotic storms to her mercy, all her crew know they can trust her with their lives. She's known across Liyue for being unafraid of the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixang, Ningguang.
Bennett
Bennett, everyone's favorite go-getter, is Mondstadt Adventurers Guild's beloved orphan. Despite misfortune following him like a shadow, his determination keeps him going as the last member of "Benny's Adventure Team".
Good thing for him Katheryne doesn't have the heart to remove the team from the books.
Candace
Candace is said to be a descendant of King Deshret, blessed by the gods and tasked with being the guardian of Aaru Village. Her heterochromatic eyes make her stand out, and some have seen this as intimidating, especially when combined with her ability to harness the power of the dessert.
However, Candace is incredibly kind and will help anyone in distress. She welcomes visitors and looks after all in the village. Although this kindness should not be misconstrued as weakness. Those who disobey the village rules will pay a hefty price.
Charlotte
Charlotte is an enthusiastic and driven young reporter for Fontaine's newspaper, The Steambird. She relentlessly chases down stories, constantly on the hunt for the latest scoop.
She's more well known than other reporters, due to her ability to frequently appear in different areas in search of the truth. This has led to her ending up in some extremely dangerous situations and needing to be sent on "field reporting jobs" to keep her safe.
Chevreuse
Chevreuse is the Captain of Special Security and Surveillance Patrol at the Maison Gardeniennage, Fontaine's answer to a police department. The musket-wielding woman has reduced the use of mechs under her command, since they "only block our bullets."
Chevreuse enjoys reading, especially any book in which justice prevails, and eats an unhealthy amount of junk food. She takes her job very seriously and seeks to ensure that justice prevails under her watch.
Chiori
Chiori is a famous tailor and fashion designer originally from Inazuma where she learned her trade. She left when the Vision Hunt Decree was enacted and now runs the Chioriya Boutique in Fontaine where she is well liked and respected.
Known for being straight-talking, Chiori prides herself on her work and her reputation and has designed outfits for many prominent memebers of Fontaine society.
Chongyun
For Chongyun, his positivity is all he needs to fend off whatever evil spirits lurk nearby, making him perfect for carrying on the family trade of exorcism. However, while this makes him highly effective, he's also disadvantaged.
Never having actually seen an evil spirit, since they flee from his innate high spirits, he'd still rather encounter one to improve on his skill.
Collei
Collei was very ill as a child and was brought to a seer in an effort to save her life. The seer claimed that he had a cure for the illness, known as Eleazar, so Collei's mother handed her over to save her life. Sadly, this was a deception that resulted in Collei becoming a test subject for Fatui experiments.
She eventually broke free of the Fatui, although we don't know how, and now finds herself an outcast. She's incredibly pessimistic and has a thirst for vengeance. She's thought to still be only around 16 or so, but has been under Fatui control for most of her life.
Cyno
Cyno is a young scholar from Sumeru Akademiya who holds the position of General Mahamatra, setting consequences for those who commit academic offenses such as plagiarism. He can come across as stern or standoffish, but he is just trying to be clear and concise.
Outside his academic role, which he takes very seriously, he enjoys playing TCGs, making jokes (badly), and having fun with his friends, who include Collei.
Dehya
Dehya is a member of The Emerites, a Sumeru mercenary organisation. She is highly regarded as brave, strong, and fair. She will defend those who hire her, and also has a compassionate side we've seen in her story arc and interactions with Dunyarzad.
While she sells her skills with a Claymore, her dignity is her own, and she conducts herself with grace and confidence. She doesn't suffer fools and isn't arrogant or impulsive, making her a formidable woman.
Diluc
This fiery boy with the short fuse used to be a loyal member of the Knights of Favonius. Once passionate and determined to protect Mondstadt no matter what, his internal flame flickered away after the poor handling of his father's death when he was 18.
Now, he's retired as a knight and inherited the Dawn Winery from his father. He still defends Mondstadt but as a vigilante, rather than a knight.
Diona
Diona is unique in that she's a popular bartender who mixes amazing drinks, yet hates alcohol. She finds herself always mixing perfect drinks, which is both a blessing and a curse. This dislike of alcohol is likely to stem from being neglected by her father Draff during his drunken stupors.
She has trace elements of non-human blood and is very protective of others. She craves friendship and is always happy to help others.
Dori
Dori is a Sumeru merchant who has a penchant for being resourceful and acquiring high quality goods of dubious origin. She vets her customers carefully and then uses her charm to persuade them to part with their Mora.
While some regard her as an unscrupulous con artist, others will happily pay her high prices in order to get their hands on rare items they'd otherwise struggle to find. Dori doesn't much care about her reputation, prefering to focus on keeping herself and her clients out of trouble with the authorities while raking in the coins.
Eula
Eula is a descendant of the Lawrence Clan, who once ruled over Mondstadt with an iron fist. She is described as an outstanding Spindrift Knight and is the Captain of the Knights of Favonius Reconnaissance Company, although we are unsure how this came to be.
Despite her aristocratic heritage, Eula has a very different outlook from her clan. She is one of few nobles who acknowledge that the clan's actions against Mondstadt were unjustified, causing them to consider her a traitor. Eula is free-spirited and can be a reliable ally and friend. However, many cannot forget her lineage and she struggles with being viewed in the same way.
Faruzan
Faruzan is a researcher and professor at the Sumeru Akademiya, and member of the Haravatat Darshan. She's said to be happy to help students in trouble, as long as they are respectful towards her.
Faruzan has an incredibly youthful appearance, and an equally incredible knowledge of the world. Her past is surrounded in some mystery, enhanced by her status as an outsider..
Fischl
Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort introduces herself as "Prinzessin der Verurteilung" and arrived in Mondstadt after being exiled from the otherworld. She is an investigator in the Adventurers' Guild and is always accompanied by Oz, her night raven familiar.
She's been in the guild since she was 14 and enjoys speaking in increasingly complex sentences. This is so prevalent that the Adventurers joke about a "Fischl Dictionary" being required to translate her speeches.
Freminet
Freminet is the adopted brother of Lyney and Lynette but couldn't be more different. While they seek to entertain others, Freminet is happiest alone, struggling with social interaction and preferring the solitude of diving, which he loves.
If he isn't in the water he's tinkering with clockwork, hoping one day to modify his mechanical penguin Pers, so it can fly. Freminet also retains his diving helmet, despite his hydro vision, since he feels safe and protected wearing it.
Furina De Fontaine
Furina De Fontaine is the Hydro Archon. She initially appears as an overconfident, passionate, and bombastic woman who makes sure to stay in the public eye. She follows the Opera Epiclese trials, frequently speaking with bravado and drama in the courtroom, and is acutely aware of maintaining a positive public persona.
It's eventually revealed that all is not as it seems, and she is instead only the body and spirit of the Archon, minus the actual powers. She's essentially a puppet, cursed to maintain a prophecy at the expense of her own happiness.
Ganyu
Ganyu is a half-human, half-adeptus with half-qilin heritage. This means she has a range of different characteristics from both humans and Gods. She's hard-working as well as being both shy and reserved. Ganyu is the emissary and secretary for the Liyue Qixing, and manages an incredibly large workload with ease.
She also maintains good relationships with others, even Beidou, who has a terrible standing with the rest of the Qixang.
Gaming
Gaming is a guard who helps escort merchant convoys journey safely through Liyue and into other regions. He works for the Sword and Strongbox Secure Transport Agency and is their most reliable employee. The young man is exceptional at both keeping clients happy, and defeating would be thieves.
Gaming is also skilled at Wushou Dance. He often performs while on the road, loving nothing more than attention from an audience.
Gorou
Gorou is the general and leader of the resistance fighting against the Vision Hunt Decree. He's considered to be sincere, loyal and trustworthy. He speaks his mind and often fails to consider others feelings, yet others are drawn to him.
He has dog blood which has given him physical animal traits, namely ears and a tail. He also has the ability to understand dog barks.
Shikanoin Heizou
Heizou is a detective for the Tenryou Commission in Inazuma. Although, it appears that not everyone is happy about this. Kujou Sara keeps him around since he delivers results due to his incredible intuition and logical mind, but he clashes with fellow Commission employee Thoma. This is said to be due to Heizou's rebellious nature and desire to follow his own mind, rather than any restrictions placed on him by others.
Genshin Impact: 15 Most Important Characters To Have In The Current Meta
Genshin Impact might have a sizable roster of playable characters, but some are far more important in the Meta than others.
While Heizou isn't the easiest person to get along with, he is cheerful and outgoing with a wild imagination. He uses untraditional methods of deduction but no one can deny that he gets results.
Hu Tao
Hu Tao is the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's 77th director. She is a quirky character who enjoys pranking people. Hu Tao likes to keep busy and is often described as eccentric.
Her bizarre personality has earned her the disdain of some, including Qiqi. Hu Tao accepts death easily, which can come across as callous. However, she simply respects the process, something essential for her job.
Arataki Itto
Itto is the head of the Arataki Gang of Hanamizaka. He is an oni, meaning he has two red horns on his forehead. He also stands out due to his piercing voice and tall height. Despite this intimidating presence he is a free spirit who has passion for life and is usually happy.
Itto isn't a villain but neither is he a law-abiding citizen. He can often get into scrapes but does have a strong sense of fairness and justice. The children of Inazuma love him, and he often plays games with them.
Jean
The elegant and poised Jean Gunnhildr is already Acting Grand Master, despite being a young age. Although she got a boost from the Gunnhildr name as the eldest child and successor to the oldest family of knights in Mondstadt, her reputable reliability is definitely earned through her determination and dedication to protect the city.
She works hard and always puts the needs of the people of Mondstadt before her own, often to her detriment.
Kaedehara Kazuha
Kaedehara Kazuha is the first character we've met who hails from Inazuma. He is a samurai and a gentle soul with his own code of conduct. We first see him aboard the Crux, since Beidou took him in.
He opposes Baal, who declared him a criminal, forcing him into his current situation. Kaedehara Kazuha has traveled all over Teyvat and has become attuned to nature on his travels.
Kaeya
Quite the eccentric fellow, Kaeya is Diluc's adopted older brother. He's also the Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius, and trusted aide of Acting Grand Master, Jean Gunnhildr. After all, how could he not be considering his manipulative tongue and strategic approach to missions?
Kaeya uses his charm to gain information and make people question their values, as well as his. He is often seen as the brains behind the Knights of Favonius.
Kaveh
Kaveh is a graduate from the Sumeru Akademiya known for being a talent architect and defender of the arts. He studied under the Kshahrewar Darshan and graduated with honors. However, during his time at the academy he built his masterpiece, the Palace of Alcazarzaray, which left him in a great deal of debt.
In order to settle his debts, he lives with Alhaitham and the pair constantly bicker due to Kaveh getting flustered in Alhaitham's presence. Despite these arguments Kaveh is known as a thoughtful and kind young man, with a strong work ethic.
