Neil Richard Flynn is a comedian and actor from America who has garnered fame for playing the Janitor in ‘Scrubs’ and Mike Heck in the ABC comedy series ‘The Middle’. He is also an accomplished voice actor. An Illinois native, Flynn has been acting since he was in high school. He started his professional career in the theatre scene of Chicago and later made appearances at the Improv Olympic and the Second City Comedy Troupe. He made his screen debut in a 1982 episode of ‘Brookside’. His first big screen appearance came about in the 1989 sports comedy ‘Major League’. He played a series of small roles in various popular TV shows before being cast as the Janitor in ‘Scrubs’. The offbeat comedy show served as the perfect launchpad for his career and helped him land the role of the patriarch Michael "Mike" Heck Jr. opposite Patricia Heaton in ‘The Middle’. At present, he is playing Fred in the NBC sitcom ‘Abby’s’. For his performance in the 1999 drama film ‘Magnolia’, he was one of the recipients of the NBR Award for Best Acting by an Ensemble.
