Douglas Robinson

September 12th, 1934 - September 15th, 2016

Life Legacy Douglas Robinson Sr., 83, of Tucson Arizona, died on September 15, 2016. A son of Douglas Robinson and Louise Miller Robinson and grandson of Governor Nathan L. Miller of New York, he was born in New York City on September 12, 1934. He was a great grand nephew of President Theodore Roosevelt, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. He graduated from St. Paul’s School in Concord NH and New York University in New York, NY. He also attended Middlebury College, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a Trust Officer at U.S. Trust Company in New York and later at First Interstate and Wells Fargo in Tucson, until his retirement. An avid sportsman and nature enthusiast, he enjoyed driving FIA Formula 4 racing cars, skiing, playing ice hockey and men's doubles tennis, as well as bird watching. He was also an accomplished fly-fisherman and found nirvana in many noted Eastern and Mid-Western streams. A voracious reader, he also enjoyed many forms of music and took up the study of classical piano and ball room dancing later in life. He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Douglas Robinson and is survived by his wife of 6 years, Barbara Barkley Robinson, two children, Laura Robinson Young and Douglas Robinson Jr., his sisters, Nora Robinson Stark and Lynne Robinson Brookfield, half brother Daniel Stewart Robinson, two grandsons, Connor James Young and John Michael Young, two nephews and a niece. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
