Royalty ain’t no chump change and does carry plenty of substance.

Consequence of Sound

The resulting 18 tracks are light on the punch lines, heavy on the swag, and an overall mighty declaration of newfound skill and confidence despite a few missteps.

Childish Gambino A.K.A. Donald Glover shows an insane amount of improvement on all fronts from his debut studio LP "Camp" with his 2012 self-released mixtape titled "Royalty." The production flows and lyrics are all filled with so much personality and energy making this mixtape a super enjoyable experience for its full 56 minute runtime, and it really feels like the predecessor to Because The Internet. This albums only flaw is it's length, after track 10 the album takes a ... read more

Finished my First Listen. This mixtape is decent, Gambino is mostly rapping here, and the production is much better. There are some good songs but the long list of features are the most entertaining part though.

Favs: Toxic, Black Faces, Silk Pillow
Least Fav: Won't Stop

Favourite features:
1. Danny Brown
2. Nipsey Hussle
3. Beck
4. RZA
5. Ghostface Killah

[GAMBINO DEEP DIVE #3] Royalty is Bino's second full length mixtape he dropped on the side after Camp but before Because the Internet, and because it is not on streaming services, it sort of gets forgotten. But I wish it wouldn't, since this is a very underrated, high-quality mixtape.

Compared to his previous records, the production is relatively fine. Nothing standout. Singing is downplayed here, but still good. But the best part is the rapping. The lyrics really are that notable besides a ... read more
