As a junior at CSA, I can say that I have truly had a valuable experience. The Arts at CSA are wonderful. Students are exposed to art 24/7. While there are no sports at CSA, students are too focused on their respective arts to complain. If a student were to want to play sports, they would simply have to go across the oval to John Hay High School (they partner with CSA to provide sporting activities for these students). Overall, I have had a truly enriching experience at Cleveland School of the Arts (I highly recommend our Dance Department).
I got to Cleveland School Of The Arts my sophomore year. The school was bright and very fun, Sophomore year was my freshman year since COVID happened and my freshman year got taken away from me being at Cleveland School Of The Arts brought me up and gave me the experience to act. My major here at CSA was theater and it got me out of my comfort zone and I made a new surrounding of friends who love and support me and watched me grow. Now that I am a senior and I am always done being here I realize the lack of communication with admin but they are pushing to have more communication with us all. The teachers are wonderful and helps us understand very well. I am more involved now that it is my senior year and I can see how difficult it is with activities and keeping them going. Going to Cleveland School Of The Arts you never know what is next or what will happen. This school will always catch you by surprise. Overall Cleveland School Of The Arts helped me mature.
I loved being at this school during my first two years. Still, since then, the new admin completely tore down our culture, infantilized the student body, prioritized academics over arts (even though this is an art school, it's supposed to center around your chosen 'major'), and isn't good at helping students when they need it. There's hardly any parent involvement, despite parents trying and failing to contact the administration to set up meetings about it. A lot of the younger grades right now are very negative towards each other. The school environment has strayed far from being welcoming and accepting.
