Looking at gorgeous weather for the big holiday weekend, our unofficial kick-off to the summer season, with summer now less than one month away. The onshore flow will keep temperatures slightly below average headed into the weekend with gusty west winds at times. The mountains and deserts will be the place to go if you want to escape the May grey near the coast. Expect plenty of sunshine Saturday with highs in the lower 60's. West winds gusting to around 10-20 mph during the afternoon. High pressure aloft will begin to build over the area on Sunday with temperatures reaching the lower 70's just in time for our Memorial holiday. The warm-up will continue throughout next week as highs reach the mid 70's while overnight lows generally cool to the 40's. At this time, long-range forecast models keep Southern California dry through the end of the month and well into June, aside from a little marine layer drizzle near the coast.
