UFO, the nearly men of British rock. They had the world at their feet with the Obsession/Strangers In The Night double whammy of albums, then........ mercurial guitar maestro Michael Schenker upped sticks and left. I saw them on the Obsession tour in Nottingham and they were astonishing - a gig I shall never forget. Schenker's replacement, Paul "Tonka" Chapman was an able guitarist (check out the two Lone Star albums he graces) but....... he wasn't Schenker. This selection comes from the No Place To Run tour - this was a perfectly good album and the accompanying live gigs were fine (I caught them in Leicester at the De Montfort Hall, if memory serves me correctly), but the real magic wasn't there. Subsequent album releases showed the law of diminishing returns to be true, sadly. They then broke up, for the first time! The accompanying DVD from Rockpalast is entertaining - I always loved Phil Mogg's very wry and very English humour. It is humbling to realise that three of this line up are no longer with us - Tonka, Pete Way and Paul Raymond, RIP. This is not foie gras UFO but certainly a decent pâté.

This brought back great memories ‘ I saw the original line up with Michael Schenker a few times & they were superb. This concert with Paul Chapman is a great show also. He’s a worthy replacement for MS. I’m glad I bought this it’s brought all those memories back. Great songs all of them. Recommended to all UFO & rock fans alike. 👍🎸

Recently discovered UFO. How I missed them in the70s & 80s and why they weren't huge I don't know. This is a terrific live album and features many songs not included an the studio anthology. This the 1980 line up and all the better for that.

I didn't realise that the DVD in this two disc pack was in colour. It's the Chapman era UFO and it's well worth having.

5.0 out of 5 stars Das Ufo fliegt mit voller Power
Reviewed in Germany on 14 December 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC UFO GIG LIVE ON GERMAN T.V
Reviewed in the United States on 27 August 2016
this is a fantastic dvd/cd set of this infamous show that took place after ufo finished work on there 1981 classic the wild willing and the innocent record, the 12 songs featured here are awesome and as i usually say 35 years on this is still a very overlooked period for ufo as when michael schenker left the band in late 1978 and former lonestar guitarist paul chapman stepped in he sure had big shoes to fill, this show both visually and on audio is one of the best examples of ufo at this time, chapman had a different style then schenker did and i feel chapmans style fit ufo as perfect as michaels did in the 70s BUT with a different guitar style, also this live show features one of the first gigs ufo did with then new keyboard player neil carter (wild horses) ufo blast through 12 great tracks here, i bought this dvd years ago but for this great price i figured it wont break the bank to get the dvd and cd in one great package, this was late 1980 and ufo where sure on there way to big things but sadly the big things did not happen, this line up was still very fresh and on fire at the time of this gig as they where getting ready to hit the road in early 81 to support there second studio album with paul tonka chapman, there is a lot of great rockers here and a ballad or two for a perfect live ufo gig from back in the day, the live sightings box set late last year was great for fans of this ufo era BUT as i always say i wish an official ufo live gig from the 1983 making contact tour would come to life someday!!!! the headstone cd was great 7 or 8 years back but sadly IT WAS NOT THE FULL SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this was a rockpalast tv special so all 12 songs are the full show here, play loud, enjoy and again ufo where one of the best rock bands to ever come out of the 1970s..................

5.0 out of 5 stars UFO Live!!!!!
Reviewed in the United States on 26 January 2021
There are not too many live concerts of UFO available to watch. Many to listen to but not many to enjoy on the TV. Yeah, the sound is not great, but this was recorded in 1980. I am sure, at the time, no one was thinking about watching this at home, some 40 plus years later. I enjoyed this so much, I bought a second one and sent it to my nephew. Great stuff!
