Tigard High School overall has been an amazing place for me to grow as a young adult, and has set me up very well for the next steps after graduation. Some great things about Tigard is how they always make sure you are on track to graduate no matter what, and there is always someone there and easily accessible to ask questions if you are feelings stuck. As an athlete, the culture around sports is something that has truly shaped who I am, and I can thank the high school facilities for that. Without a field or a gym, sports would not be possible and I am very lucky to have the space I had while playing soccer. My coaches were always amazing, along with my teachers as well. One negative to the school as a whole is when it comes to situations where people feel unheard. Staff do a great job at listening to what is going on, but there are not often further precautions that take place to make sure things will not happen again. If we improve on this, Tigard would really be a great, safe place.
I have loved going to Tigard High School and I have no regrets. I have made so many friends and connections in the building and I can tell that they will be lifelong relationships. I have loved all of my teachers and all the administrators that I have worked with as well. The only thing that I think I would change is the attendance to events such as games, arts, or events put on in the school. I wish that we had some more school spirit because as someone in Leadership planning all of these things, it is not fun when nobody shows up to the things that people look down on. I think that the culture at THS could be changed to being more positive about things going around in our school so that everyone has a great experience! Overall I have loved attending THS and I will always look back at the fond memories that I have.
The academic programs offered at Tigard High School include both basic core classes, interesting electives, dual credit enrollment, and IB curriculum, which is great for students of a variety of abilities and ambition. Teachers are mostly kind. School environment and culture could use some work, and there is an attendance and aggression problem
