What will Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage be about?
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage follows “Georgie and Mandy as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage,” according to the official logline.
The title is a play on previously established Big Bang Theory lore: In the hit sitcom’s 2019 series finale, Nobel Prize winner Sheldon said he received congratulatory texts from Georgie’s ex-wife… and Georgie’s other ex-wife.
During a recent interview with TVLine, Jordan and Osment expressed hope that the spinoff would find a way to undo (or at the very least tinker with) Georgie’s marital history.
“I’m hoping that I’m the ex-wife and the new wife,” Osment said at the time. “People get divorced and remarried. Why can’t she be both?”
Can’t wait, my two favorite characters from my favorite show!
I’m glad they are continuing this. Georgie quickly became one of my favorite characters, along with MeeMaw. I am hopeful Annie Potts will be involved somehow.
I think the mom will be involved A LOT, possibly even as a series regular. I think the Sister will barely be involved, as it seems she wants to move on.
.
Annie Potts has enough money over her career that I just don’t know if she’s up for the rigors of a new show. She’ll recurr, but IDK about series regular.
The Georgie and Mandy show will not be complete without the rest of the main cast especially Annie Potts.I can’t believe anyone would believe someone would think Annie Potts is too old. She has more energy and is. More humorous than the rest of the cast.
It isn’t about AP being too old to do the job. I have questions about her willingness to do the job. She’s made good money over the course of her career. She was an expensive cast member from the get-go on this show. She now has enough money that she doesn’t really need to work.
.
Shows like this are a lot of work. It isn’t that she CAN’T do it. I just wonder if she WANTS to do it. It is good money, starring on a show like this. But It won’t be FU money. She’s not making what the stars of BBT made towards the end, which would be enough money to overcome any qualms about the work load.
.
The point of this spinoff, with it structured the way it is structured, was to cut costs. Otherwise, they’d have called it the Coopers (or something).
.
A real problem is that the younger sister doesn’t want to continue the show. That takes out Mary, because it is hard to work her in on a regular basis without the sister also being a regular.
.
The Grandmother slots in easy enough. But, again, it is want to as opposed to can do.
Annie said in an interview that she didn’t want young Sheldon to end. She thought it was bad to stop when they did. So she may want to stay on . I hope so. She’s my favorite

Multicams are actually A LOT easier on the actors than single cams. It’s a really great gig, with a very reasonable and consistent work schedule. They know the exact windows of when they’re needed throughout the week (table reads, rehearsals, blocking, run-throughs), and the only “unknowns” that don’t take place 9-5 are on tape nights, and if there are any pre-shoots. Single cams shoot like movies. It’s rare to have a pre-set schedule like that and will often involve many more hours on set.
So if anything, the idea of this being a multicam would be incredibly appealing to any actor who has worked in the format before – which Annie Potts has, a lot. She’s been absolutely the best fit on Young Sheldon and I can’t imagine this new show going forward without her. Getting her on board would shift it from an “ok, I guess I’ll sample it” to something I would definitely watch each week.
I am thrilled to hear this! But about a year or so ago, before they announced this as a final season, I suggested they stick with Big Bang lore, end the show when he goes to Cal Tech, and segue into a sequel called “Young CeCe,” focused on Georgie and the baby, and got absolutely excoriated in the comment section. :)

I hope they DO consider calling it “Young CeCe,” as it seems to me to be the perfect title for this spin-off/continuation. And I hope Annie Potts continues to play MeeMaw in the new show, and that Missy and Mary are also at least recurring. And it would be great if Jerry O’Connell reprises his role as Adult Georgie if they have a narrator.
My guess is they skip a year to 18 months ahead. They recast Missy and any other family member they need to. Missy is a mess following the events of Young Sheldon’s final season. Mary is either clinging to the Bible or divorced from her faith. Meemaw is trying to help everyone but probably burnt out from being unable to do so. In the midst of all this Georgie is figuring out raising is his daughter, married life, and his career in the tire business with his father in law.
I don’t think the Cooper family will be a regular thing on the show. This is a different series
Well we all know they divorce eventually, don’t think this show was necessary at all but I’m happy for the fans that will watch this.
We know the marriage ends. He has later divorces. Or he could divorce and remarry her a couple of times. Lots of options.
Could be but I hope not, I have zero interest in these two characters as a couple let alone a whole show devoted to them being married.
I did agree that the series seemed pointless if it was about a doomed marriage. But the title is pretty clever in suggesting (but not totally) that maybe they do get remarried. That’s a nice way to bring in some suspense.
Everything sounds great except this: “the Georgie-and-Mandy spinoff will revert to multi-cam and shoot in front of a live, studio audience.” I don’t need or want a show to laugh for me.
Same! I hate studio audiences and the fake laughter. I’ll laugh if it’s funny.
Same. I really enjoyed the Young Sheldon format. The comedy just felt subtler, smarter. Laugh tracks are nothing special.
Meemaw, Mary, and Missy must be there or me to watch. With Sheldon gone, those three are the key.
In a moving scene in TBBT, Georgie tells Shelsdon that he stayed to help his mom, sister and meemaw so Sheldon could follow his dreams without having to worry about the family. How can the new show possibly work without the three women, who are far better characters than most, especially Georgie’s unlikable new wife.
Memaw better be there!
I’m going to assume that Mandy’s father has a tire store somewhere else in the state of Texas that he’s going to have Georgie and Mandy take over so the couple will move to a new town to start fresh. Georgie’s siblings, mom and MeeMaw could sometimes visit (maybe 1-2 times the first season, less as the show goes on) but they’ll need to move elsewhere to explain why the family isn’t always around.
Add in a neighbor couple so they each have a friend, plus maybe a quirky coworker at the tire shop, and you got a CBS sitcom, baby!
I doubt it. TBBT clearly established that while Sheldon left, Georgie stayed. He talked about how Missy and Mary were not doing well and he had to support them while also protecting Sheldon from the reality of how bad things were. Your suggestion is too far removed from that, and I just don’t see a TBBT spinoff breaking that far from cannon.
To be fair, “support” can take many forms. Georgie could still financially support Mary and Missy while working in another town. Grief is a tough enough needle to thread in a comedy, and separating Georgie from the rest of the Coopers, while still allowing Georgie to grow as a character, could help keep the tone from drifting too far away from the laughs. As would a time jump to skip past the initial aftermath of George Sr.’s passing.
I can’t wait. I love Big Bang and watch the reruns still. I have watched Young Sheldon from the beginning and hate that it is ending. So having a spin off is music to my ears.
Why those two. A lot of people could not stand Mandy when they wrote her into the show. Now you think people are going to watch a show with her starring in it. Good luck with your flop.
If they follow the “canon” tbbt story, Georgie is supposed to take charge of the family after his father’s death. So everyone else, even Sheldon, should be on the next show.
Although I like both Gerogie and Mandy, I have reservations about how well they would be able to carry a show without the rest of the Cooper clan. . .especially MeeMaw.
But I didn’t think Young Sheldon would be nearly as successful as it was, so what do I know?
It was successful because of the supporting cast. None of them are set to appear except the title characters in the new show.
Unless there is some other cast member that can help carry the show, I don’t see it holding enough audience. I liked both of these characters, but don’t see the appeal here even with Chuck Lorre involved.
Love Montana, Emily and CeeCees characters! So glad these actors were allowed to do a spin off. Excited to see what’s in store. Will any of the regulars on Young Sheldon’s car make appearances? I guess we will have to watch it to find out! I certainly hope so! Here’s to the writers, directors, and producers!
There is only one title for this show…. “Raising CC”
Looking forward to this new show.
So how about bringing back Big Bang Theory? The spin-offs are fine, but nothing beats the original! I’d watch until they are too old to act any longer.
One of the “Big” reasons BBT ended is because Jim Parsons wanted to move on. There’s no BBT without Sheldon.
I’m glad they’re making that spin off I can’t wait to watch it I like Georgie and his new girlfriend or soon to be wife and I love mema can’t wait to see it
Please put Connie and John back together. If John was ill I know Connie would realize how much she still loves him and run to the hospital. If they would not let her in because she is not family she could go get the ring out of the sock drawer and tell them they are engaged. It would make many of us so happy to have a Connie and John wedding, Please please
Unfortunately, I don’t think this spinoff will be successful. The Georgie character is funny, but Mandy is just a downer! A better choice would be a spinoff with Missy, her character has so much more to explore. Being the twin of Sheldon has its challenges in spades! However, I wish all involved the best of luck and hope they prove me wrong and have great success!
Wow, can’t wait. Hope the parents and grandma stay.
So glad they are doing a spinoff, love the show
I HOPE Annie Potts is at least a recurring character, if not a regular.
It feels like the Cooper family is being replaced by the MacCallister family. I really hope that I’m wrong. The public wants more Coopers not more MacCallisters.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE…NO LAUGH TRACK.
I love the idea especially if Annie Potts is still a part of the new show!
