David Gilmour, the renowned voice and guitar behind Pink Floyd’s most formative years, is set to grace the United States with his presence for the first time in nearly a decade. This fall, fans across the country will have the unique opportunity to experience Gilmour’s musical genius live as he embarks on a limited tour, coinciding with the release of his eagerly anticipated solo album, “Luck and Strange.”

Album Launch and Anticipated Performances Across Iconic American Venues

Scheduled for a grand unveiling on September 6, “Luck and Strange” heralds Gilmour’s return to the music scene. Accompanying the album launch are performances at some of the most iconic venues in America. The tour will see Gilmour performing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 29 and 30, followed by shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on November 4 and 5. A recently released teaser has stirred excitement among fans, featuring snippets from Pink Floyd’s “High Hopes,” “The Piper’s Call” from the new album, and the timeless “Comfortably Numb.” This eclectic mix suggests that attendees will be treated to an expansive setlist spanning Gilmour’s illustrious career.

Fans eager to secure their seats for these exclusive performances can look forward to ticket sales opening this week. An early ticket access opportunity will be available for those who register on Gilmour’s website, with sales starting at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday. The general ticket sale will commence at the same hour on Friday.

Tour Details and Creative Insights into “Luck and Strange”

The upcoming concerts mark Gilmour’s sole North American appearances, following his performances at Rome’s Circo Massimo and London’s Royal Albert Hall, scheduled for this fall. Joining him on stage will be a band comprised of seasoned musicians, including bassist Guy Pratt, who has an established history with Pink Floyd and Gilmour, keyboardists Greg Phillinganes and Rob Gentry, drummer Adam Betts, and guitarist Ben Worsley. The ensemble is completed by backing vocalists Louise Marshall, Hattie Webb, and Charlie Webb, all of whom bring their unique talents to the live renditions of Gilmour’s work.

The creative process behind “Luck and Strange” was a venture into new territory for Gilmour, who recorded the album in Brighton, England. Over a span of five months, he collaborated with producer Charlie Andrew, finding the experience to be a refreshing departure from the norm. Gilmour appreciated Andrew’s candid and innovative approach, stating, “We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos and said things like, ‘Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?’ and ‘Do they all fade out? Can’t some of them just end?’ He has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine. He’s very direct and not in any way overawed, and I love that. That is just so good for me because the last thing you want is people just deferring to you.”
