      The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard Reviews

Despite some jokes that land, charmingly goofy editing, and even an enjoyable pun or two, the film’s writing can only be described as a classic kerfuffle.

This triple A-List acting trio is not enough to save Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. This is one target that should have been taken out with a headshot before it got greenlit.

      An expensive disappointment.

While the action-comedy sequel leans even more heavily on the absurdist humor between the three leads, it suffers from the same poor action direction and bland plotting that dragged the first film down.

Lumbering and obvious, The Hitmans Wife's Bodyguard is a cynical sequel that promises little, and delivers less. We can only hope that this mess is enough to convince the studio that The Hitmans Wifes Brothers Bodyguard would be a bad idea.

The action is good, not very slick, but the comedic parts make up for the lack of great action.

Don't take it seriously... and you'll have a lot of fun.

I can't get enough of the relationship between Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson, throw in Salma Hayek, Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas and stick a fork in me, I'm done.

I know it's meant to be fun, but it ends up just being tragically painful to watch.

There are well-filmed car chases, fist fights and... and the chemistry between the leading trio seems genuine. [Full review in Spanish]

I did not like it very much.

The first act is a bit clumsy and it's pretty predictable, but ultimately the movie is a fun, wild ride with three terrific, charismatic leads carrying it through the rough spots. After all, one person's tired cliché is another's time-honored trope.

An excessively chaotic and redundant feature film that commits the worst possible sin in this type of production: bore the audience.

As the sequel to a movie that probably never deserved one, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is about as vulgar and vulgarly bloated and uninspired as you'd expect. And as it turns out, three truly is a crowd. [published June 28]

There's nothing new here, only a tiresomely long adventure film that goes on for 95 minutes technically, even if it feels more like two and a half hours.

The Latina spitfire is still depicted in 2021, the jokes don't land, and this whole movie is ten years too late. Banderas/Hayek reunion was the only thing worth seeing.

The main trio bring their pizzazz to proceedings but it is not enough to lift an inane script that offers even less plausibility than the first outing.

Senseless action and comedy. [Full review in Spanish]

Whatever magic was there the first time doesn't return for the second round. Awkwardly paced and so arch as to be impersonal.

Hayek does hot-tempered Latina; Jackson swears; Banderas is the urbane villain with the scary stare; Reynolds does improv-style jokes.
