Hannover was flattened during WWII yet the Town Hall argueably Hannover's largest building at the time was virtually untouched. How do I know this? There are 4 large models in the reception area showing what Hannover looked like in medieval times, pre WWII, post WWII and now. These are excellent models.

I think there were 3 large playgrounds which the kids could explore. Hours went by quickly. It's a big lake with many activities on it and around it. Purpose is to remind people on war devastations never to happen again.
Aegidienkirche is set in the very center and there used to be a Church here from 12 century onwards which was several times rebuilt over centuries. Intense allied bombing 1943-45 left the Tower standing but the Church roofless. - Diaz Welli14 contributionsI haven't had chance to visit the bigger garden yet (Herrenhauser garten). This place is really good if you have less time to explore. However, I don't know its purpose today as the City offices moved to the imposing new Town Hall. Going up, we visited temporary exhibition The Real Thing collating paintings of old masters with some of the works of Glenn Brown (mainly portraits and landscapes). Interesting contrasts that convey their message to the visitor.
