Carbon man enters plea for violating Megan’s Law

A Carbon County man, who violated the conditions of Megan’s Law as a sexual offender, entered a guilty plea in county court on Tuesday and was sentenced to a prison term.

Dean William Tessitore Jr., 30, of Beaver Meadows, pleaded to one count of obstruction to administration of law and other government functions, a misdemeanor. In exchange of the plea, two felony counts of failure to register with state police and failure to certified address/be photographed, were dropped by the district attorney’s office.

Nesquehoning police filed the charges. Police said they were notified on Aug. 10, 2020, that Tessitore failed to register his new address as required by Megan’s Law. He was residing in McAdoo at the time.

He had been released from the Carbon County Correctional Facility on April 8 and provided them with a Hazleton address, but police learned that he was no longer living at that address. Police attempted to contact Tessitore without success.

He is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II, who accepted the plea, said that the charge Tessitore was pleading to does not technically fit the crime he committed. Nanovic said he met with the prosecution and defense counsel and agreed to accept the plea deal.

Nanovic sentenced Tessitore to serve three to 18 months in prison with credit for 74 days already served. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, pay court costs of over $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
