Gov’t sends Mae Thomas Toussaint on leave following US report

The Government of Guyana today said it has taken careful note of a US Department of Treasury press release sanctioning three Guyanese over corruption and it has sent one of them – Ministry of Labour Permanent Secretary, Mae Thomas Toussaint on leave with immediate effect while it gathers more information.

GTU presents new proposal, says gov’t inflexible

Though the Guyana Teachers’ Union (GTU) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) again failed to reach an agreement on ending a prolonged strike at yesterday’s meeting under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour, the union has put forth a proposal for a new multi-year agreement, to be completed within 30 days.
