IMPORTANT: : Please note that firewood sales are by credit card only, and effective 2021, the cost of firewood is $7 per bundle. Massachusetts prohibits the transportation of firewood or any wood products into or out of any DCR campground.
Firepit Pilot Program: 14 sites have been fitted with fire rings. Sites 80, 81, 83, 85, 87, 89-91, 93-98.
ATTENTION: PAVILLION AT SCUSSET BEACH IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR RENT ON SUNDAYS FROM 12-8.
Attention: Campers should bring extension hoses (at least 50-75 feet) for water, as some sites are closer to water hookup than others.
IMPORTANT : Walk-in Registrations are not permitted. Advance Reservations can be made same day up until 2 pm on date of arrival.

Overview

Description

Situated at the corner of Cape Cod Bay and the east end of scenic Cape Cod Canal, this campground offers 98 RV sites with water and 20/30/50-Amp service, five tent-only campsites and a safari field for RV clubs. A fish pier and beautiful beach makes this is a fabulous destination.
Scusset Beach also offers weekend camping during the off-season. Off Season camping is limited to self-contained units only, as there are no restrooms, water hookups, showers or dump station available.

Geography:

Scusset Beach is located in southeastern Massachusetts on the east side of 17.4 mile long Cape Cod Canal. With its close proximity to Cape Cod and historic Plymouth, this campground is a popular destination for RV campers.

Recreation:

Within the park the sandy ocean beach, scenic picnic area, fishing opportunities and historic Sagamore Hill offers something for everyone. Activities include swimming, saltwater fishing (license required), picnicking, camping, walking, running, bicycling, bird watching, ship watching, geo-caching and interpretive nature programs in the summer season.

The main beach is 1600 feet long with lifeguards, restroom / shower facility and a concession stand. Beach wheelchairs are available. The fish pier area has a parking lot, restrooms and picnic tables complete with grills for cooking the catch! The pier offers great fishing and access to views of Cape Cod Canal for people of all abilities.

Facilities:

Scusset Beach offers 98 RV-ONLY sites that include water (water not available October through March) and electric hookups with 20/30/50 amp service, as well as five tent-only sites and a safari field. The safari field has a minimum of 20 self-contained RV units, with a maximum of 75 units and is intended for RV clubs. Advance reservations are required for use of the safari field.

Each RV site is equipped with a picnic table. RV sites require an RV or pop-up. These sites are not for tent only camping. Fires of any kind are not permitted on the RV sites. There is a community fire pit that many folks enjoy. Individual fire rings are only available at tent sites. Portable propane fire pits are permitted.
The comfort station is not accessible. However, several accessible RV sites are offered for self-contained accessible camping.

  • Reservations must be in the name of the primary occupant.
  • Reservations with departure dates outside the 4-month maximum window cannot be changed or canceled until 18 days after the reservation was made.
  • If you choose to cancel or change your reservation, a $10 fee will be charged. The reservation transaction fee is non-refundable. Refunds of $5 or less cannot be processed.
  • If you leave early, please checkout at the contact station.
  • Cancellations made on the day of arrival must be made by calling the campground and will result in the loss of the first night's camping fee plus a $10 cancellation fee.
  • If you are unable to arrive on your scheduled arrival date, you must call the campground and let them know. Failure to contact the park by 8 a.m. the morning following your scheduled arrival date may result in your campsite being reassigned to another camper and forfeiture of fees paid.

From South of Boston:

Rte. 3 toward Plymouth/Cape Cod. Take Exit 1A for US-6 West toward Buzzards Bay/Falmouth/Scusset Beach Rd. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Scusset Beach Rd. Turn left at Scenic Hwy. Continue on Meetinghouse Lane. Continue on Scusset Beach Rd.

From the Cape:

US-6 West towards Boston/Providence R.I. Take the exit toward Canal St/Rte. 3A. Slight right at Canal St/Rte. 3A. Turn right at Meetinghouse Lane. Continue on Scusset Beach Rd.

From Wareham:

US-6 East. At the traffic circle, take the first exit onto Main St. At Bourne Rotary Cir N, take the first exit onto US-6 East heading to Hyannis/Provincetown/Rte. 3/Plymouth. Continue on Meetinghouse Lane. Continue on Scusset Beach Rd.
