Geriatronics is a new term to describe the interplay of robotics, mechatronics and information technology, machine intelligence, and 3D technology in combination with geriatrics, gerontology as well as in nursing. The aim of our research is to maintain mobility for as long as possible and to facilitate interpersonal interaction and communication in old age. Intuitively operable, adaptive assistance systems adapt directly to the user and thus enable independence in old age and in case of illness. Another central goal of Geriatronics is to relieve the strain on nursing staff in their everyday lives. Support in physically stressful situations is intended to improve the general working situation in the nursing area. Geriatronics sees itself as a supporter and companion of elderly people and care facilities in overcoming ever new challenges in everyday life.
