When The All-New Mickey Mouse Club began airing in 1993, viewers were treated to a flurry of fresh faces. These new mouseketeers included Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Ryan Gosling. Few could have predicted the bright future these budding young stars had ahead of them. Gosling in particular would become known as one of the best actors of his generation.

Gosling's acting career has earned him nominations and wins at the Golden Globes. He's also been nominated for the Best Actor Award at the Oscars on more than one occasion. But his huge success as an adult wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for the incredible opportunity he had when he was a child.

Many have wondered how Gosling himself feels about his time on the Disney Channel series. This is what Gosling has said about his time on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.

Ryan Gosling's Time As A Mouseketeer

Gosling's audition for The All-New Mickey Mouse Club came due to his aspiration to become a dancer. According to Gosling, several kids he went to school with were auditioning for the show and he decided to join them. To his surprise and delight, Gosling was accepted into the cast.

However, Gosling says that he wasn't particularly skilled at singing or dancing. Therefore, he says, they stopped using him on the show.

"They regretted it pretty quickly after they hired me," Gosling jokingly told David Letterman.

Gosling told Letterman that when he moved from Canada to Florida, he lived in a trailer park with his mother. According to Gosling, the name of this residence was Yogi Bear Park.

When Justin Timberlake appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he said that Gosling's mother had to keep her job in Canada for the show's second season. So Timberlake's mother acted as Gosling's guardian for a six-month period.

When Gosling appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he told DeGeneres of his first impression fellow mouseketter Britney Spears. He said that when the kids first started working together, they were asked to perform for each other. Christina Aguilera performed first and Spears followed her. Gosling told DeGeneres that he thought they were "freakishly talented."

His Reunion With Britney Spears On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'

When Gosling appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018, he reunited with Spears backstage.

Spears was on the show to tease that she had a special announcement coming up. This would be the announcement of her planned Las Vegas residency titled "Domination." The show was going to follow her very successful "Piece of Me" residency, which had been ongoing for four years.

However, the residency was ultimately canceled in early 2019. The reason for the cancelation was later explained by Spears in a 2021 court deposition. According to Spears, issues relating to the conservatorship she was under at the time came to ahead.

When Gosling came out to talk with DeGeneres, she asked him how long it was since he and Spears saw each other.

"Neither one of us could remember, which I think is a sign that it’s been quite a while," he said. Gosling added that it was possible that the last time they saw each other was on the show itself.

DeGeneres asked Gosling what he did at the performance where he previously mentioned watching Aguilera and Spears.

"I think I was just like, 'I’m Canadian,' and they were like, 'Good,'" he joked.

Ryab Gosling Thrived After The Mickey Mouse Club

His stint on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club was a pivotal moment in Gosling's childhood. However, it would be far from the last or even most important thing he did. Gosling grew into an accomplished actor who would be widely recognized for his talent.

Gosling starred opposite Rachel McAdams in the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook. The film received critical acclaim and did very well at the box office, grossing over $115 million worldwide. It was also an opportunity for Gosling to receive more attention from the overall public. Gosling won four Teen Choice Awards and an MTV Movie Award for his role in the film.

Gosling later starred alongside Steve Carell and Emma Stone in the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. The film was Gosling's first comedic role and allowed him to show a new side of his acting ability. The film saw Gosling receiving positive reviews for his performance and he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

Gosling was nominated for (and won) the same award years later for his role in the film La La Land. The musical comedy saw Gosling reunite with Emma Stone, who co-starred as his love interest. In addition to his Golden Globe win, Gosling was nominated for an Academy Award for the second time in the Best Actor category.

His most recent film appearance was 2022's The Gray Man, which premiered on Netflix. Gosling starred in the film alongside Chris Evans.

With all Gosling has achieved, it's not surprising that he got his start among such a talented group of young future stars!
