After a long and brave battle with cancer, Nancy (Oliva) Petriella died at the age of 75 in her home in Roswell, Georgia, on April 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born in New Haven, Connecticut on April 24, 1948 to Alphonse Oliva and Eva (Baldino) OIiva. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Oliva. She leaves behind many loved ones, including her devoted, loving husband, Dennis; her daughters, Nicole (Jim) Wharton and Michele (Justin) King; sister, Carolann Muzio; and her five grandchildren whom she adored, Haley King, Thomas Wharton, Eva Wharton, Joey King, and Aubree King. Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Nancy and Dennis were high school sweethearts who married in 1970, spending those 53 years living life to the fullest; loving one another, raising their beloved daughters, cheering for their grandchildren in their various sports, and forging many close friendships that she cherished.
Among Nancy's many passions were watching baseball (especially the Atlanta Braves), relaxing at the beach, decorating and entertaining for the holidays, tending to flowers, shopping for antiques, feeding her family with recipes carried on from her Italian heritage, and teaching (touching the lives of so many students who affectionately called her "Mrs. P").
She taught us all about strength, perseverance, love, and zest for life. The world became a darker place with her parting, but Nancy will forever remain a light in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Nancy's family will receive friends at Northside Chapel on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A memorial mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10:00am. Following the mass there will be a reception at the Foxhall neighborhood clubhouse.

Nancy was one of the founding members of our neighborhood book club. Over the years we all came to appreciate her intelligence, her sense of humor, her devotion to teaching and to her family. She was a gracious and much loved member of our community. Her loss is felt deeply by all.
