So much fun 😆 proper old school. The rides are actually terrifying. Make sure you bring cash because card payments might not be accepted at some rides. You have to pay for every ride you want to go on.

The beautiful gardens are part of the Hofburg Palace and was built on top of the city's fortifications that were destroyed by Napoleon in 1809. The park was opened to the public in 1823 and remains very popular with locals and visitors alike.

Grab a picnic, escape the city and sit in the park next to the water. It's calming and I believe dog free so no chance of your picnic being stolen. Enjoy !

On a hill literally overlooking Vienna (you can see for many miles). The Kahlenberg is accessible by bus 38a from Grinzing, which is reached by 38 tram from Schottentor. There are cafés and public toilets, but the main attraction is the view.
Early evening is the best time to go, for the best photos.

Excellent park, surrounded by Hofburg and other impressive buildings. Nice statue of Mozart in one corner. Nice mix of trees and grass, surrounded by culture.

Donaupark is very nice to have a walk around. It will be even nicer in the summer where you can chill out and enjoy the nice weather. It's got lovely views

It is worth a visit, it is a remarkable statue and a beautiful piece of art. You can enjoy the beautiful Stadtpark, get some rest there and thinking about the great composers. It is not very crowded and it is very easy to take time to admire the monument and have a beautiful photo in the light of the sunset.

The Donauinsel is a fantastic space to spend some time on the banks of the Danube or new Danube, there are plenty of bars to enjoy a drink or why not hire a boat and go on the water!

Jumping the Ubahn down to Alte Donau ( U1 ) brings you out onto Alte Donau.
This is a great area to explore if you want a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city centre ,nice walks along the riverbank ,rent a boat and enjoy the river and views or just laze around ,a very peaceful area ,great views of the unique architecture especially of the Danube Tower ,well worth checking out if hours planning a holiday to Vienna.

The park is beautiful with statues, ponds, waterfalls and you can even find an enclosed area where your dog can run and play with other dogs off the leash. You can walk, jog or run or play table tennis at stone tables or have a picnic or enjoy the beautiful weather on a meadow with your friends or enjoy a fine meal or a glass of drink at a nice cafe/restaurant (Meierei Diglas) where the staff is super friendly even with your dog! You can see trains running under the park. This is must-visit place in the 18th district of Vienna.

I visited on Saturday. Took the red U1 line to Kagraner Platz then the 26 tram to Oberfeldgasse, Spargelfeldstrasse and venue right there. Download the map and just explore. Lots of animals and play areas for the kids. I was solo but just blown away by the beautiful plants and flowers and how well maintained everything was. The wedding area looked stunning, what a dream venue. I will definitely return on my next visit to Vienna.

Great family day out to escape the city heat. Outdoor swimming, kids pool, lap pool, flume…

Wee bit of a walk from the nearest Ubahn station but all through a nice park so didn’t feel like a chore.

I first read in detail about Hermesvilla in the new book UNDER THE SPELL OF A MYTH: Empress Sisi in Greece. The empress used this enchanting spot in the Vienna Woods as a hideaway in her last few years and it was inspired by her love for Greek antiquity. A lot of the interior such as her luxury bedroom is still original. The park is wonderful as it is a kind of English garden, wild and natural, with the adjacent horse stables.
It is a gem for those tired of tourist masses at Schönbrunn even though its a bit difficult to get there by public transport.

Indeed Vienna has a lot green areas and parks - this is one of those parks ...But as mentioned is more to it than for the first will meet the eye -there are several potential points of interest scattered in/and around the park:
    - WWII mementos of war in the shape of 2 decommissioned - but still standing menacing anti-aircraft towers - the once dreaded Flakturms. Today they are just the skeletons reminding of an era of terror and anti-semitism that shall never return.
    - Vienna Porcelain Manufactory in Ausgarten - if you are interested in the art o porcelain you can pay a visit.
    - MuTh Concert Hall - temporary close - but very interesting to check out otherwise.
    - Restaurants and Eateries - two of those in/near the park - "Die Schankwirtschaft im Augarten" and the "Am Nordpol 3".
    - Familienbad Augarten - Family Barth Augarten - as the name says a bath / swimming pool complex at the edge of the park.
If none of the above is for you there are several other things - like chilling on the green pitch, maybe having a picnic with friends , also walking or riding a bicycle can be an option.
So, overall if you want a patch of green and you are in the area this park can be the right spot for you.

This pool is just as good as in my older reviews. It is sited on the lower slopes of the Vienna Woods and has a panoramic view over the city, visible while you swim or sunbathe. It is a good sized chlorine-free pool set in extensive grounds where people picnic and sunbathe. Families often settle in for the day. There is a cafe and a snack bar, or take a home-made picnic. We noticed with pleasure that despite all the picnicing going on, there was no litter to be seen anywhere. There are two childrens pools as well as the deeper main pool.

There is an all-day entry fee, a lower one applicable after 13:00, and a further reduction after 16:00.

On arriving you get a ticket at the cashier's window outside, then go inside and hand the ticket back in at the indoor desk (traditional Austrian practice). Go on to the large single-sex communal changing rooms which are spacious and very clean. There are lockers which take 1E or 2E coins as deposit, returned when you put the key back in. (If you want a family changing cabin instead of using the changing rooms, these can be rented from the indoor desk).

To get to the pool, get tram 38 out from the city centre to it's terminus at Grinzing and change to bus 38A. Get off at the Krapfenwaldgasse stop ( a screen display inside the bus tells you when you are approaching each stop) and walk for a few minutes down Krapfenwaldgasse to the baths.
