Good Not Great!
There's good value here: four hours of great video and audio in an eye-catching package. Thanx Montreux! What disappointed me somewhat was the music itself. It is still quite listenable and some would find it highly enjoyable. Personally, I thought Buddy Guy's performance was a bit over the top. I've seen him better and for just a hint of what he's capable of check out the brief high energy clip of him performing in the dvd "Antone's Home of the Blues" and he can still shred with the best of them (when he puts his mind to it). I was a bit disappointed in Clarence Gatemouth Brown's closing "Okie Dokie Stomp" which is so much better in the excellent Martin Scorcese directed concert dvd "Lightning in a Bottle." Bobby Parker's music I'm not too familiar with and I'll reserve judgement until after I watch and listen to him a few more times. The real reason I bought this dvd is Carlos Santana and he doesn't disappoint in his all too brief for me anyway appearances in the jam sessions, and on the plus side there are 10 tracks in which he appears. Still not enough. Don't get me wrong about the music. There is some great playing at times and the house band has very good players, notably the sax and piano players. If you do buy this dvd you'll more than likely enjoy the work of singer Barbara Morrison and guitarist Nile Rodgers in their brief appearances. Finally, although I appreciate the added visibility blues artists are given in these large venues (and no doubt they do as well) and at times with larger backing ensembles, I prefer my hurting music in more intimate settings. It's more painful and/or juicier that way.

Every artist were at there best, the play back sound quailty was superb. defintly a must! ,for your blues collection .These players arent going to be here forever.and this is a fine testament to there blues style and straight forward playing abilities.now its time to buy a copy for your collection and see if you dont feel the same .And to you guys from eagle vision keep up the good work AND THE HIGH AUDIO STANDARDS This was my take Kim Barnes in Mi.Every artist were at there best, the play back sound quailty was superb. defintly a must! ,for your blues collection .These players arent going to be here forever.and this is a fine testament to there blues style and straight forward playing abilities.now its time to buy a copy for your collection and see if you dont feel the same .And to you guys from eagle vision keep up the good work AND THE HIGH AUDIO STANDARDS This was my take Kim Barnes in Mi.

Excellent Blues Concert Video
This is an excellent blues concert jam session video. It has great audio & video. All the performers played masterfully and the dvd set is well worth the price given, if not more. Another masterpiece concert video from Montreux.

An excellent mix of old and new blues by some of the greatest alive today. Buddy Guy is still the best currently alive, as stated by many including Clapton. I have seen him 3 times in person. He really brings it home. A must see.
