Having looked at previous reviews, it appears that I am not the only one to find the owner of this place rude and obnoxious!
I went last Sunday with my son and two grandchildren. As a local, the Delph has been a place to visit for some 50 years. Once upon a time there was no commerce and no apparent owner.
Now times have changed and it appears that the owner is intent on profit at any cost.
As it was later on in the day we weren't sure if the shop would be open so we took our own fish food which was specifically for feeding the various fish found here. It was very quiet and no one else was there to feed them.
The 'owner' (he said he was) approached and was pretty rude about us feeding the fish and even suggested we would be harming them! It soon became apparent that he was being objectionable because he was losing 'profit' from us not buying his £1 food. All this for an amount that would be worth less than the £1 charged!!
Normally we would visit the Cafe and have a brew, cakes and ice cream - spending at least £20 ....
Guess what? We went elsewhere to another cafe and we will NOT be visiting here again. Is this a good example of cutting your nose off to spite your face? It really does beggar belief.....

Just been diving at the Delph, travelled some distance to get there and found out I’d left my dry suit on its hanger at home , and had a faulty set of regs🤷🏻‍♂️… Barry and Andy could not have been more helpful in sorting me out… Barry looked at the regs and identified the problem immediately… he said give me five minutes and I’ll sort it for you .. true to his word, five minutes later my regs were as good as new.
So a great day’s diving was had thanks to these two

I would like to thank John for his investment into the restaurant at Eccy Delph, it is looking great.
I would also like to thank Amy for looking after us all, keeping us well fed and watered throughout the winter months in alternative accommodation.
I have no doubt that Andy and Barry will have been behind the scenes too, ensuring that the plans for the restaurant go smoothly, so I am grateful to them too.
Thank you very much,
Ged

My wife, young son & I made a 50 mile drive to check it out for a scuba dive trip as I hadn't been there in 20 years & I wish I hadn't bothered, the old guy at reception was argumentative, unhelpful & at times blatantly rude for no apparent reason, similarly the grossly overweight guy running the cafe (who I was informed was the owner's son) was not much better, it's like he was looking for an excuse to be hostile despite us making every attempt to be friendly. I wouldn't mind but we were literally the only ones there, kind of strange really. Never again.

Great place to dive. Challenging on occasion but very good value. Great dive shop and cafe. The dive shop offers a full range of equipment and repairs. Air fills are available on site but not nitrox. The cafe is great value for money and the staff are very polite and helpful.

Sadly a number of people seem to forget that it is a privately owned property and get upset when asked politely to refrain from paddling or flying drones (both of which are clearly not allowed if you read the huge signs at the gates and around the site). The quarry is cold, deep and dangerous without specialist training.

Treated with respect this is a brilliant place for a day out.

I like coming to the cafe here sitting in the sun with something to eat and watching the swimmers. Had a most delightful cheeseburger with fried onions and superb homemade chips. My daughter had a very nice full English breakfast.

I love to come here for breakfast when we are out and about up this way. It is nice to sit out and watch other people being energetic, whilst I chomp away at a delicious steak burger for breakfast. Lady that runs the cafe was lovely and the cakes are simply awesome. All this in a very pleasant place....so relaxing.

Vist Delph for open water swimming regularly. Great venue for training etc - a kids free area is important for an untroubled swim. Staff always friendly and helpful, water quality excellent. A lovely swim in a lovely setting - cant beat it on a sunny day.
