Meet Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” dream guy

Unless you’ve been lost in deep space, you know of Carly Rae Jepsen and her infectious hit “Call Me Maybe.”

The tune is everywhere, from in your head to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Now meet the dream guy from the award-winning video that cleaned house at the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards.

“Hey, I’m Holden Nowell,” the Canadian model says over the phone from his apartment in Vancouver.

That’s right, if Holden’s chiseled ‘n’ ripped towering 6’2 sweaty bod (as seen in Carly’s video) wasn’t a clue, the dude’s a model.

“I never took the idea of me modeling seriously,” Holden says. “It just seemed so ridiculous, far fetched and the last thing I could ever see myself doing. I always had my mind set on playing pro basketball.”

Holden started playing college basketball in LA after graduating from high school, but ended up dropping out after one semester. Since he was no longer going to school, his student visa was revoked and he was cornered with no choice but to move back to Canada.

“I moved back to Calgary after I dropped out of college and was like, ‘Damn, what do I do now?’” he says.

A fresh dropout, Holden had no blueprints of a plan b and never really considered doing anything else besides playing ball.

“My girlfriend at the time basically said, ‘Why don’t you go into Mode, (an agency) and see what they have to say?’ The agency from Calgary had actually been scouting me for years to come in and get some pictures taken.”

They definitely had plans for Holden, and just one month after he landed his first fashion show and a local mag shoot, he was off to New York to work with powerhouse agency Major Model Management NY.

“This is the condensed version,” Holden laughs. “Next, I’m walking to a job and I get a call from my agent saying, ‘Hey, they’re casting for a Carly Rae Jepsen video, go to the audition, this might be some good exposure for you.”

Cut to Holden as the focal point of “Call Me Maybe,” the 2012 MuchMusic Video of the Year.

“The video has definitely opened a door to a whole new world, but I don’t want to get too big of a head from this,” Holden says of all the attention he’s been getting.

“I’m trying to be a little deeper than that. I’m going to stay humble. That’s who I am, and I’m pleased to meet you.”
