Television Workshop's Ian Smith retires after 30 years

He has launched the careers of some of the best young stars of screen and stage, including Jack O' Connell and Samantha Morton.

But after nearly 30 years working with the East Midlands' brightest acting talents, Ian Smith is calling it a day.

Ian from Calverton in Nottinghamshire is retiring from his job as director of the Television Workshop.

Vicky McClure, who has starred in Broadchurch and Line of Duty said the Television Workship "won't be the same", while Aisling Loftus, of Mr Selfridge fame, said she is "incredibly proud" to have been taught by him.
