The Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court Office is responsible for processing county court records. Court records are documents generated during legal proceedings, such as criminal case files, bankruptcy records, and records from family or probate court. They contain information about proceedings, including names of the parties involved, dates of hearings, testimony and evidence, and rulings in cases. Court records are kept for a period of time then archived or disposed of. Most court records are considered public records, though some information may be redacted when copies are provided to the public.

Mecklenburg County court records may be accessed in several ways. Portal is an eCourts information system where public records can be accessed online. Court records may be searched by record number or the full name of a party involved in the case (i.e. plaintiff, defendant, attorney, etc). Records filed before October 9, 2023 may need to be requested from the Clerk Division. The Division asks that these requests be made via email and include the type of record request, party name or names, and file number, if known.
