The movie The Incredibles is filled with heroics! All of the main characters have moments where they go above and beyond to save innocent lives. That, plus the family struggles, are what makes it such a beloved movie. There's such a positive tone to it, as well as a great number of layers.

One of the more underrated heroes is Frozone, a guy who isn't quite a main character since he isn't part of the family, but has plenty of screen time. He is a perfectly done secondary character in that way and one that doesn't quite get his due.

10 Frozone: Original Target For Operation Kronos

The Incredibles Frozone

Mr. Incredible was always the big cheese when it came to superheroes, Frozone acts almost like his number two in many ways. That's why it might be a bit of a surprise to know he was Syndrome's original target before he changed stances to Bob.

It shows how much respect and power Frozone had. The only reason Mr. Incredible ended up a bigger feather in Syndrome's cap is that he's the one that rejected Buddy as Incrediboy.

9 Alternative: Elastigirl

Elastigirl one of the core heroes of the series and the one who goes through one of the best character arcs. Elasticgirl spends much of it at odds with her husband, frowning on his clandestine activities with Lucious and the time he's been spending with Mirage, whom she thinks he is having an affair with.

Despite all of this, she's right there to try to save his bacon once he gets in trouble. Once she gets the full story, she even supports him to the fullest degree.

8 Frozone: Willing To Put Relationship On The Line To Be A Hero

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's anything other than that. When you are in a committed relationship with someone, you have to make compromises with your partners, or it's never going to work.

Lucious being willing to stake his entire relationship on the line to put the tights back on and save his friends shows how heroic he is. Being a hero is part of who he is and it isn't something that can be changed, no matter the circumstances.

7 Alternative: Dash

Most of the time Dash seems to be having the time of his life as a hero, not all that surprising when you consider how young he is. What is surprising is the level of restraint he's able to show to keep his identity a secret.

Few kids his age would be able to keep that under wraps verbally, let alone holding back in track and field competitions. It shows how much he grew throughout the film and that he's better at normal life than his dad is.

6 Frozone: Helping Slow The Cruise Ship

Much of the glory ends up going to the title characters, The Incredibles, but none of that could have been achieved without Frozone's help. He helped in the battle against Syndrome and was just as vital in stopping the cruise ship at the end of The Incredibles 2.

If it weren't for his intervention, the ship would have never been slowed down nearly enough, and Evelyn would have ended up successful. In true hero fashion, he never goes looking for any of the glory.

5 Alternative: Gazerbeam

Gazerbeam

He's as minor as minor characters can get, yet without his influence and quick thinking, Syndrome may have succeeded in his plans. He managed to survive his battle with the Omnidroid long enough to scrawl the words Kronos onto the walls, serving as the key piece needed to take the villain down.

It's a great moment for a character that by and large was described only off screen rather than on, and shows you don't always have to have tons of screen time to be a hero.

4 Frozone: Illegally Fighting Crime With Mr. Incredible

While he admits that he likes it, Frozone took a big risk strapping back on the spandex and going with Bob on patrols again. He'd fully adjusted to his life as a civilian, something Mr. Incredible could not do, no matter how much he tried.

It takes a good friend to go along with something like this with few questions asked, especially since they very easily could have been arrested for their behavior. Only true heroes are that selfless.

3 Alternative: Violet

Through much of the first movie, Violet's arc is more revolved around accepting she has powers and her relationship with her brother, Dash. It makes her more of a bit player, which changes in the second movie where she gets to take center stage, especially towards the end of the movie.

She plays a huge role in freeing her parents and in bringing down Evelyn's plan to keep heroes outlawed. She shows a greater degree of confidence and becomes the hero her mother always thought she could be.

2 Frozone: Protecting Bob's Kids

Frozone, Dash, and Violet

He's the consummate best friend to Mr. Incredible, always dropping what he's doing to help his friend out. In the first movie, that was patrolling the streets with his good buddy, but it evolves past that in the second. He's the first one brought in when Bob has issues with his kids, most notably Jack-Jack.

He's also the reason they didn't get captured by the mind-controlled supers, doing everything he can to protect them, showing what a selfless hero he is.

1 Alternative: Voyd

Admittedly, she spends most of the movie as a villain, though not by choice. She ends up battling both female members of the family and took some critical thinking to defeat on Elasticgirl's part.

What makes her so underrated is that Evelyn's defeat may never come to be if she doesn't end up helping Helen get aboard the ship. Her portals as the two are free-falling is pretty key in making sure they both stayed alive as well.
