Barely clears the "project" stage in all aspects
This low-grade movie barely clears the "project" stage in all aspects. In fairness, it wasn't released until several years after its making, only because Jack Nicholson hit it big in another biker flick. And his minor role along with the other budding actors are the only notable things about the movie, with an early version of his sociopath routine and his freaky striped pants. Their 1967 version of a hippie biker gang is weirdly amusing for a few seconds.
Bruce Dern tried to inject some pathos into his role, but it's a silly forced effort within this aimless trash-fest. This movie deserves to come out of a dusty storage room to fill the 3:00 to 4:30 AM Tuesday night time slot on your local television channel.
