Glenn Whipp Los Angeles Times Although much of the film's broad humor at times makes it feel like an unwanted mash-up of "Scary Movie" and "Date Movie," writer-director Hwang In-ho invests the material with enough clever scenarios to keep it engaging. Rated: 3/5 Dec 15, 2011 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International An understandable hit in its country, this Korean rom-com/horror film charmingly sneaks its way under your skin. Andrew N "Why is dating so hard?" has never been said with more conviction. Normally, you don't need to take out a life insurance policy! This comedy is perfectly paced, packed with charm and really funny. Both leads were superb, playing their roles with a lot of heart. I always expect that of Son Ye-Jin, but Lee Min-ki matches her charisma. There are some truly marvelous scenes, like the one where he rescues her with a card trick. And the pacing is such that there is no way you'll be able to stop watching once you've started. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/23 Full Review Tony S Cliche characters with familial korean gloss. Lighthearted mix of genres, where horror elements are a crutch for romantic development and conflict. Bland if cute romance that needlessly stretched out for spooks, where even ghost abilities and actions are inconsistent. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/21 Full Review troy k Terribly cheesy comedy that loses it's way a few times, but still watchable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member a little bit spooky despite starting off prestige-ously. not a bad show but definitely not the "romcom" it was classified to be. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member It loses some steam towards the end, but there's lots of laughs and plenty of charm. Definitely worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Yu-ri, who can sense ghosts, became an inspiration to a street magician Jo-gu's horror magic show. Jo-gu made a huge success with it and he gets closer to Yu-ri despite the threats of ghosts around her. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
