Nottingham Forest willing to offer Remo Freuler in swap deal to sign 25-year-old captain - Nottingham Forest News

Nottingham Forest are now preparing to offer Remo Freuler in the negotiations to land Bologna captain Nicolas Dominguez. The Reds are desperately trying to bolster their squad before the window closes next Friday.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Reds are keen to offer the Switzerland player in their negotiations. Freuler hasn’t played a minute of Forest’s opening two games and could leave this summer.

Dominguez looks like a quality player for Forest to be targeting. He’s currently the captain at Bologna and will find himself out of contract in 12 months, with the Serie A side keen for him to stay.

However, the player could have his sights set on a Premier League move before the transfer window closes. Indeed, from Bologna’s perspective, they might be willing to let him leave if they can get Freuler on board.

Forest signed the 57-time Switzerland international last summer. He cost the club £7.5 million from Atalanta and made 33 appearances for the Reds last term as they secured Premier League survival.

Forest’s good form coincided with Freuler coming out of the team, however. Nothing against the 31-year-old but his style of play is far more suited to a team that actually has possession during games.

Since it was announced that George Syrianos has returned, it’s hard not to be excited by the players Forest are getting linked with. Dominguez would represent a leader coming into the ranks and it’s easy to see why Forest want him.

It would be a good move for all parties if Forest could offload Freuler. He’s a steady footballer but he just doesn’t suit the system that Steve Cooper wants to deploy and Bologna now fancy him.

This would be a move that makes sense for all parties. Freuler will be craving regular football at this stage of his career; whilst Dominguez would likely welcome the chance to test himself in the Premier League.
