After graduating, he began his career as a model. Initially, he modeled for world-renowned brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton in Taiwan and also appeared in advertisements and music videos.
In 2000, he made his television drama debut in "Spicy Teacher."
On August 15, Jerry Yan held a signing event titled "Embracing Jerry's Pre-Order Seal Event" in Ximending, Taipei, Taiwan. Due to the loud noise at the venue, he was fined, marking the first instance of a singer being fined for noise disturbance.
In July 2006, Jerry Yan did not renew his contract with Fulong Entertainment upon its expiration, opting instead to establish his own personal management team and website to manage his career. In 2007, Jerry Yan co-founded the production company "Dreamland" with Feng Chia Rui.
