I was a transfer student in ninth grade during the pandemic. I started hybrid and only attended in person 2 days a week. Upon coming to Fairport Senior High School from a much smaller Fairport school and an even smaller rural school before that I thought I would be lost in a sea of students. However, my counselors made sure that was not the case. I was welcomed along with other students just joining the HS. Yes, there are a lot of students but classes at FHS still feel small with plenty of time to speak individually with teachers. Sports and clubs at FHS are welcoming, though some can be quite cliquey. Everyone is given a chance to try a new sport or club that interests them. However, some of the more established, traditional sports are full of people who are more exclusionary to outsiders. Though if you find that right fit club or sport it is a great way to meet new people outside of your core classes. I would recommend FHS for students who want the chance to expand their horizons.
Fairport High School gives students many opportunities to be involved in many clubs and organizations, sports, and other extracurriculars. The teachers are very involved and connected with students. The community engagement in Fairport is strong. Fairport has a strong sense of family and makes efforts daily to make everyone feel included.
Some of my favorite parts of Fairport High School are the teachers and sports. My teachers have been very accessible and make it easy for me to get help when I need it. They also give good lessons that I can follow and understand. The sports at Fairport High School are very inclusive and give everyone a chance to experience a sport if they really want to. We have many sports at our school from the modified to varsity level and all kids get a chance to participate at some level. Those aspects of my school make it inclusive for everyone and provide a better experience for all kids.
