India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja rubbished his father’s allegations of a strained relationship between them, calling the senior Jadeja's interview to a popular daily nonsensical and scripted. Jadeja's father, Anirudhsinh, in a startling allegation, said that problems started in their relationship after the cricketer married Rivaba back in April 2016.

Jadeja shared a post on his social media handle, asking not to trust “scripted interviews". The India all-rounder also said that attempts are being made to tarnish the reputation of him and his wife, who is a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Jamnagar North Assembly constituency.

“Let's ignore what's said in scripted interviews,” Jadeja wrote on Friday, February 9.

“The things mentioned in the dubious interview to Divya Bhaskar are meaningless and false. Those are one-sided comments that I deny them. The attempt to tarnish the image of my wife is improper and condemnable. I too have a lot to say but it is better that I don’t reveal those things in public."

‘There's just hate’

In an interview with Divya Bhaskar, Jadeja’s father alleged Rivaba was creating a rift in the family. He also mentioned that there’s nothing but hatred between the two families.

"He is my son, and it burns my heart. I wish I hadn't gotten him married. It would have been better if he hadn't become a cricketer. We would not have to go through all this in that case," Jadeja’s father said.

"Within three months of the marriage, she told me that everything should be transferred to her name. She created a rift in our family. She didn't want the family and desired an independent life. I could be wrong, and Naynaba (Ravindra's sister) could be wrong, but you tell me, how can all 50 members of our family be wrong? There's no relation with anyone in the family; there's just hate."

Jadeja is currently recovering from a hamstring injury which ruled him out of India’s second Test against Ben Stokes’ England in Visakhapatnam. The southpaw sustained the injury in the Hyderabad Test, after which Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar replaced him in the squad in Vizag.

It remains to be seen if Jadeja recovers in time and gets picked in the Indian squad for the last 3 Tests to be held in Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala.
