Fans of CBS‘ well-watched NCIS franchise now have at least two returning series to count on during the 2024-25 TV season, with the announcement that the mothership has been renewed for Season 22.
NCIS‘ renewal comes three weeks after the franchise’s first International offshoot, the Australia-based NCIS: Sydney, was renewed for Season 2. A decision has not yet been announced regarding NCIS: Hawai’i, which is more than halfway through airing its third season.
The NCIS pick-up also arrives ahead of the franchise airing its 1,000th total episode, on Monday, April 15 at 9/8c, and very much on the heels of CBS’ renewing all three of its FBI programs.
Season-to-date, NCIS is averaging 9.71 million total viewers (with Live+7 playback), veritably matching its Season 19 audience. It also currently stands as TV’s second-most watched entertainment program, trailing only CBS’ own Tracker (which enjoyed an NFL-boosted kickoff).
“The Neighborhood” — which was also renewed on Tuesday afternoon — “and NCIS are the very best definition of a CBS comedy and drama,” CBS Entertainment chief Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. “They embody authentic storytelling with heart, humor, and family dynamics. We are proud to bring them back next season.”
NCIS has been a Top 20 series (in total audience) for 18 of its 20 full seasons, and has been television’s most-watched broadcast drama for the last five complete TV seasons (and 13 of the last 14).
Regardless of NCIS: Hawai’i‘s ultimate fate, the NCIS franchise is poised to only get bigger, with not one but two new spinoffs ordered to series: NCIS: Origins aka the Young Gibbs prequel series (starring Austin Stowell), and a yet-to-be-titled offshoot following Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David (played by NCIS vets Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo) on the run in Europe.

oh, they better announce the hawaii renewal.
They definitely will. CBS has a very good relationship with the creator of NCISverse (cancelling it just like that would be an insult). I think it’s taking longer to decide wether the next NCIS Hawaii season will be its last or not
Please, oh please cancel NCIS Hawaii. If they want to expand bring back the New Orleans show or move the Los Angeles crew to San Diego.
I hope NCIS Las Vegas gets renewed.
I think you’re thinking of “CSI: Vegas,” which is on the bubble right now.
I’m sorry, but I have to say this is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while. It’s a running joke on the show of having people mix up NCIS with CSI.
Not been enjoying Hawaii as much this season personally, as I expected it’s become the Sam saves the day show just as LA did.
In my below comment, I meant to say they should renew NCIS Hawaii and CSI Las Vegas. I mixed up the shows.
YAY for NCIS Season 22!!! Can’t wait to see what’s next. I’m also looking forward to NCIS: Origins and whatever the DiNozzo/David spinoff will be called. Per someone’s suggestion in Comments, I’d love to see the NCIS LA crew back together and moved to the San Diego office!
NCIS: D&D – catch all the Dungeons & Dragons fans, for a moment, anyway!
Great news for NCIS. I’m not really interested in Origins, but I’m willing to give it a chance. I hope the renewal for Hawaii comes through soon. I’m excited to see more of it, Sydney, and the Tiva spinoff.
NCIS HAWAII is the best …so much better than NCIS Australia which is just so so
Never thought I’d be as invested in the show post Gibbs but I have loved the new gen members. Parker is nothing like Gibbs and that’s why I enjoy him he’s like Jason Gideon an oddball but an efficient agent. Mcgee funny to see the probie as the longest serving agent. Kasie and Jimmy truly are the heir apparents to Abby and Ducky they’d be proud. Still not a fan of Torres or Knight they seem like ripoffs of Tony and Ziva. Glad to get another year.
Happy for NCIS. Something is not working in Hawaii and it isn’t too late for change, sometimes new shows take season before they got the right formala.. and they’ve been trying so hard to promote it first through the crossovers and how special they tried to make it seems in the mothership and then they brought a fan favorite Sam Hanna this season.
Sam Hanna was a fan favorite on his own show Los Angeles which they cancelled. By adding him to Hawaii imo they messed with the cohesiveness of the team dyamics. Sam lurking around in the background is just weird.
Hawaii has been pretty good this season… Not sure what they are waiting for… CBS can’t abandon Hawaii after whacking 5-0 and Magnum… Need our fix…
Hawaii is the only one worth renewing
Originsl NCIS is boring but it’s back BLAH
I like Sidney – nice change of scenery
For some reason I could see them canceling or reducing to half seasons NCIS: Hawaii along with The Equalizer and/or CSI: Vegas to make room for all the shows they’ve ordered/planned (NCIS: Origins, Watson, Fire Country spinoff, NCIS: Sydney, Matlock.)
Especially in the case of NCIS: Hawaii and Sydney, which could share a slot, Sydney season 2 eight episodes (or more?)/ NCIS: Hawaii 14 episodes.
NCIS Hawaii is also top ten watch for our house
So happy to finally read this. Now I have to wonder what kind of cliffhanger they’re going to give us.
The original is my favorite, but I do think Hawaii will be renewed. It’s probably just a matter of contracts needing to be done.
Yahoo! I love me some NCIS!
Love NCIS Hawaii, please renew.
Maybe they’ll finally write meaty storylines for the Gary Coleman character, since he’s y’know, carrying the show.
Good luck to expensive Hawaii in a time when Paramount is publicly cutting the cost of crafty’s coffee. The writing is on the wall that the FBIs got renewed in a trio-scoop while Hawaii didn’t ride on OG’s coat tails into renewal yet.
You mean Gary Cole :)
Maybe it’s NCIS: Zombieland?
Tooo much canceling things. Need Hawaii.
Ll cool j really adds to it
Well with the nonsensical addition of Sam Hanna to NCIS Hawaii I’m not surprised. The character adds no value to the show. Imo
Seriously? A TBD in regards to NCIS: Hawaii? 🙄🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I really hope NCIS Hawaii is renewed. The characters and crime of the week are all well crafted. The characters are growing and have more of their own stories to tell as they solve crimes. Jesse’s family dynamics could be revisited, Kai’s relationship with his father, extended family and globe trotting girlfriend, Jane’s son at military school, is Sam staying (sure hope so and maybe we could see Deeks at some point), Lucy’s family… SO much more to learn and explore.
Wish NCIS New Orleans would come back with a new cast.
Definitely do not need an NCIS spinning off of a young Gibbs as this should have been done before the whole NCIS started. NCIS Hawaii needs renewed.
WHY WILL TONY AND ZIVA NOT BE ON A MAJOR CHANNEL BUT ON PARAMOUNT +
