This in my opinion is the best video and performance there is of Roy Buchanan. I seen this on Austin City Limits when it first aired when I was an aspiring guitar player and it made a big impression on me!
There is a lot of close up video on this of Roy and he will amaze you.
I would recommend as a must watch for any aspiring guitarist The video and sound quality is great!

Listening to this and watching this you will hear some of the meanest blues and rock licks . My favorite is "Roy's Bluz" the way it starts with the blues shuffle and Roy just plays some of the meanest blues licks . I have never heard anyone solo like Roy . He pours his soul in every note. He will go from blues licks to chicken picking, then soulful string bends, make his guitar cry and talk with the volume knob on his Telecaster. I play Blues guitar and he has my favorite Blues guitar tone. The way he just used an amp the sound of his Telecaster live is awesome.

I'm not to proud to admit I've gotten teary eyed listening and watching this. It's debated about Roy's death , but either way it's very sad to think of him leaving way before his time. His " Messiah will come again " and " Sweet Dreams" is especially powerful and emotional.

I really liked this DVD for it's look back at a VERY under rated guitarist and artist. This was recorded for a PBS program called "Austin City Limits" and they always had leading edge performers of various styles of music. The Audio is Very Good as well as the Video, Performance is stunning although he seems a little unmoved or bord, but maybe that's his style, all I know was that note for note he was right on. He's much better live, very stylish and smooth licks. The bass and drums could have been a little more pronounced and snappy but OK for a recording of this age. (Probably not enough market to re-master, what a shame.) This is a recording of a true master of early blues-rock and should be one for the keeper pile and is highly recommended, just wish it was longer!

I wish Amazon had a 3 criteria rating that would make for a quicker, more accurate and fair rating of Cd's, DVD's and Blu-ray's.

Artists that wish to have there performances recorded and recognized should be held to a standard. Poor Audio or Video, no matter how good the performance, is still a bad product. Those who would still purchase sub-standard Audio or Video quality recordings and rank that product highly just because of performance are not doing the industry or the band justice. Demand better and we will get it, settle for less and that's what you'll get.

Unique One Of A Kind Virtuoso Blues Guitarist

This DVD is a great gift to those who appreciate superb blues guitar music. Until now the only official video recording available of Roy Buchanan is in VHS form FURTHER ON DOWN THE ROAD-ROY BUCHANAN, ALBERT COLLINS, LONNIE MACK. There are other unofficial recordings of Roy Buchanan performing if you are fortunate to acquire them.

I have never seen an artist like Roy Buchanan play blues guitar like him. Original and plays with such emotion that it can be felt by the listener. I can only compare Mr. Buchanan's uniqueness to Edward Van-Halen' s unique way of playing rock guitar.

Roy Buchanan plays a combination of harmonic pinches, volume control, country pickin and flamenco combinations in his blues playing in an orchestrated talented way. You will have to see at least one performance to understand what I' am talking about. Just watch the first song. An amazing guitar player who put everything in his playing including the kitchen sink.

I would like to see more official remastered performances of Roy Buchanan. I would gladly purchase these official releases as soon as they become available. I' am sure others who enjoy the work of Roy Buchanan feel the same way.

Mr. Roy Buchanan is no longer with us but he has left a treasure of his art behind for us who still are to enjoy. Mr. Buchanan has given us a great gift of himself. His music. Great performance by a wonderful guitarist

Hey folks, I heard about Roy back in 1993 and I promptly purchased the Sweet Dreams Anthology. WOW! That was awesome. But I am equally glad to find a CD/DVD combo that showcases Roy's wonderful performance at Austin City Limits, I'm so glad to actually see him play. Yes, it is a short performance, BUT, hey, it's Roy, live and in the flesh! I sure hope that Austin City Limits releases some more of their wonderful collection. So, I would recommend purchasing this CD/DVD combo. At the time I'm writing this, 03/31/15, there are two video shorts on Amazon available for free viewing, of Roy bending some strings. Great videos and they can give you some insight into his playing if you haven't heard him yet. There is also a biography available by Phil Carson entitled "Roy Buchanan: American Axe" that is an excellent read. It is extremely informative and very touching. Cheers, Vince

Are you kidding me? Some reviews of this on YouTube say Roy has no stage presence while others say he is showing off. Give me a break! What dolts. This is an awesome display of Roy's guitar greatness. The master is at work here and is clearly enjoying himself. Love the fake yawn and then the sly grin at the end of Roy's Bluz. The silent stoned out 70's audience is hilarious. They go nuts at the right time so they aren't completely comatose. Some have complained of the brevity of this set but I'll take any Roy on video I can get. Sound and picture quality are excellent. Back shots of Roy playing are comically inept camera work but I'll chalk that up to mid 70's era. Rockpalest DVD is also a must for Roy fans.
