A Carpenter’s Hard Knocks

May 11, 2024

Join Sippican Historical Society members at the Music Hall on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 pm as restoration carpenter Lee McColgan shares the triumphs and tragedies of restoring a 1702 New England Colonial, the Loring House in Pembroke. The Sippican Historical Society invites the public to hear Lee’s story of “A House Restored,” which is the title of his new release.

Trading the corporate ladder for a stepladder, Lee was trained as a preservation carpenter at Boston’s North Bennett School. He worked on Boston’s Old North Church, Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House, and other buildings. Committed to restoring the house using period materials and methods, he also faces a holiday deadline. Whether you love techniques, stories or old homes, reality and philosophy combine for a great story.

Email to reserve your spot at info@sippicanhistoricalsociety.org. Copies of his book are available for sale at the event and in the Shop at SHS.
