Detailed Reviews
My fiancé and I wanted to stop by Portland for a day trip on our way to Acadia National Park. This hotel provided great value from what we saw online and went for it. And we are so glad we did! The room was very lovely - clean and comfortable. The most important part for us was to have a kitchen given we are being very safe during COVID times and would rather eat in vs out. There was a full fridge, sink and microwave which we put to use. The TV was fully equipped with NFL network and ESPN to keep us happy in the evenings. The shower had great water pressure and full bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash (great for somebody with long hair like me). Lastly, their breakfasts were perfect during COVID times. Individually packed Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. and the woman managing it was very lovely. The only negative was the front desk woman - just made everything difficult when we were checking in and did hamper the experience in the beginning. But other than that - very happy and would highly recommend. And it’s only about 15 min away from Portland downtown and 20 min away from the main lighthouse so very convenient for sightseeing.

Dear Escape 771898, Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed your kitchen and the breakfast provided. I apologize the woman at the front desk made the check in experience difficult. I will be sure to investigate so we can make some positive changes. We hope you will come back and visit us again the next time your travels bring you to Scarborough Maine.

Only 12 minutes or 3.5 miles to the Portland Jetport/airport - very convenient yet we were not bothered by any airport noise.
Room and kitchen looked clean. Shower had dispensers for the shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel. There was Aveda soap for the sink. I liked that there was Palmolive dish soap, dish washing cloth, and towel at the kitchen sink. Some Residence Inns make you ask at the front desk for dish soap which is a pain.
The gentleman with the blond hair working the front desk in the evening and then again the next morning was very kind to give us a bag of ice from the ice machine instead of having to make do with the ice from the freezer's ice maker. We appreciated that. He was pleasant and efficient.
My husband commented that the room was smaller than other Residence Inns, but then again, he was upgraded to a two bedrooms suite several times. Our room was the normal studio. The desk was large and took most of the far wall. I appreciated the white small table by the couch that we used for our Happy Hour as opposed to the tall table and chairs in the room.
The swimming pool was broken. We did hear someone playing basketball after 10:00 pm outside our room, but they stopped before we went to bed.
Breakfast was pretty good for COVID times. I got a Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, biscuit that was hot in the warmer. The other hot options were an egg soufflé, omelet with jalepeno, and oatmeal with toppings (such as coconut and blueberries). Apples, bananas, and oranges were the fruit choices. Hard boiled eggs were available.
Overall, convenient and close to the airport and much less expensive than other Portland hotels. There is a parking charge.

I stayed here twice in two weeks for the location. Check-in was fine, but my hallways smelled of cigarette smoke. The rooms were clean enough, but the sofas did not look too clean and the hand towels, sink and sink-surround had long dark hairs in them. I would say at this day and age, those rooms should look and smell like they were bleached cleaned. Breakfast was a microwave egg sandwich thing and some random oatmeals. Not amazing, but not terrible.

I can assure you all surfaces and items in our room are sanitized between guests but we certainly missed the hairs in your sink. We are so disappointed in the employees at this hotel. They were very rude. We have never experienced this at a Marriott ever. Not only is it ridiculously overpriced, the employees couldn't care less about customer service. Seems if they can fill a room with a higher rate, you are dirt. Don't try to stay at a busy time. Don't stay here at all. There are many others who appreciate their customers!

All in all the location and rooms are fine but the reception desk upon check in was extremely unfriendly, rude and displayed a racist attitude. The lady was infact training anoher staff and probably trying to display her toughness but in the process giving a very wrong impression in dealing with future guests. In my 24 years with the Marriott chain...I have never ever experienced this type of behavior nor had to write such a review.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I would like to apologize that your check in experience was not a better one. I can tell you with 100% certainty that our staff does not and never has displayed a racist attitude. We are all humans and occasionally we don't offer the best customer service but discriminatory behavior is not in our DNA. I appreciate your loyalty to Marriott and hope you continue to stay at Marriott's for your future lodging needs.

From check-in to checkout, we were very pleased with this Residence Inn. All staff that we encountered in our one night stay were friendly and very helpful with any questions we had and made our stay very pleasant. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Many thanks to Cindy for the Titanium Elite room upgrade, it was so nice to have the extra room! Breakfast was very good with lots of selection, even had Gluten Free bagels when I asked. We will be back!

We were making our way home and decided to stop at the last minute to get some rest before hitting the road again. We arrived late and were welcomed by the kindest man, Mr Dennis Flynn. Mr. Flynn made sure we were settled, knew we were exhausted, and made sure we would be able to sleep late and still get breakfast. He brought us to get breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, and waters to bring to our room for the morning. His customer service, welcoming friendly attitude, and attentiveness was enough to make us want to come back. Rooms were clean and great as well but the staff was exceptional.

The location was perfect for a wedding we were attending but the hotel and rooms are in need of some serious cleaning. We had mold on our shower curtain liner, toilet seat was coming off. The refrigerator had a nasty odor, The main lobby floor was constantly disgusting and they left the dirty lines and trash just in the hall way to the main lobby. Every time we got in the elevator we prayed we made it to our floor. I would not recommend anyone staying here until they do a complete overhaul.

Needs repair! One of the closet doors was missing in the smaller bedroom in room 206. There was also a hole in the wall that needed patching from the bedroom door handle. The toilet kept running unless you jiggled the flushing mechanism, which was very loose. The outlet plate next to the bed was loose, definitely not safe. Everything had a filmy layer of dirt. I was surprised at the general condition in the hallways, very dirty carpet, seems that Marriott has lowered it’s standards. The person at the desk was very friendly and helpful at checkin, that was the only positive aspect of the stay

Horrible experience during a family reunion at residence inn this weekend yet somehow I was treated like I was trying to scam them. I was lied to twice about charges they insisted wouldn’t be on my card until I showed them the amount, I had an uncleaned room with someone else’s used Gillette pink razor and bar of soap in the bathtub and a nearly empty roll of toilet paper. I didn’t realize the unhygienic state of the bathroom until the morning when I got into the shower (which I obviously didn’t do). Upon alerting front desk at 8am I was told the manager was going to call me shortly. I later found out he told another family member guest that he was not planning to call me because he didn’t want to use his personal number and that he may get around to it this week but wasn’t going to remove any charges because I had already spent the night. The service and experience was so bad I almost thought it was a prank. I found myself dreaming of coming back to lovely Portland and staying at any other countless hotels in the area but this one.
