Details of ceremony to install Judy Foote as Newfoundland and Labrador's lieutenant governor announced

Judy Foote will be installed as the lieutenant governor for Newfoundland and Labrador during a ceremony at Confederation Building in St. John's this Thursday, May 3. - Submitted

ST. JOHN’S, NL – Grand Bank native Judy Foote will become Newfoundland and Labrador’s first female lieutenant governor this Thursday, May 3.

The ceremony, which will be held in the House of Assembly in St. John's, will start at 11:30 a.m. 

After the ceremony and receiving line, Foote, a longtime politician at both the provincial and federal levels until her retirement last year, will receive the Viceregal Salute and inspect the Guard of Honour at the front entrance of the Confederation Building.

There will also be a 15-gun artillery salute.

The ceremony will be carried live on television on the House of Assembly channel.
