The Pacific
Remembering how I was heading back to university after the holiday break, and my parents let me choose what to watch the night before—so I chose one of my all-time favourites. We watched the first few episodes of The Pacific, and after I left, my parents messaged me and told me that they continued watching it. They always teased me for being a history nerd due to my interest in twentieth-century warfare, so the fact that I got them into The Pacific was a proud moment 👌
The Pacific is fantastic. If anyone hasn’t read With the Old Breed by Sledge and Helmet for My Pillow by Leckie, they’re both great that I would absolutely recommend.
I loved Leckie's book; Sledge's is great, too, don't get me wrong, but it is clear from reading Helmet for My Pillow that Leckie is indeed a writer (I speak as someone enjoys writing and analysing prose 😅)
Great series! Not quite as good as BofB but what is.
Band of brothers feels more cohesive since it’s about one unit and the soldiers in it. The Pacific feels less so because it’s bouncing between a handful of characters (Leslie, Sledge, Basilone). Both are great series, but BoB is more of an all time classic.
