I have been to the York Railway Museum but found my recent visit to the Bulawayo Railway Museum to be more fascinating and enjoyable. Gordon who showed us around was a font of knowledge and his passion for all things railway was evident when speaking to him. The highlight was being able to go into Cecil John Rhodes personal carriage. Being able to climb onto the Garratt class and other locomotives is not something you will do at York Railway Museum.

Incredible park and team of rangers and tour operators trying to save Rhinos. We had the local legend Ian as our guide for the day and he was amazing. Heartbreaking to hear about the poaching that is still happening. The painting in the park were amazing!! as were the rhino of course. This place is a must visit. You'll have an awesome day and contribute some tourist $'s to helping protect the rhinos.

This museum is far larger than we anticipated and has so much history about the region - we wish we had more time but they kicked us out. You need at least a few hours if you actually want to read into all the stuff they have here. The live snake exhibit is lovely as well.

Interesting early history of Great Zim and this should be visited in conjunction with Great Zimbabwe ruins to the east. We used Bonaisa with Lesly coordinating and driving.

We were fortunate that we arrive in time to see the lions being fed and the verocity of the magnificent animals became apparent. One must remember that this is a rehabilitation sanctuary and animals that have damaged wings or legs don't need such big spaces. The animals looked well fed and cared for.

Interestingly laid out with nice mix of older colonial structures. A good base for excursions north and west ie. Khami, Hwange, Matobo / Matopos & Great Zimbabwe. Yes, a MUST visit and one that further emphasizes Zimbabwe as an extraordinarily beautiful nation. Consider using Bonisa Excursions.

Yesterday we visited the Silozwane Cave and saw very beautiful Bushman cave paintings. The road is a bit rough but the scenery along the way is very spectacular.Amaizing balancing rocks.
Proper hiking shoes are needed and you need to bring your own drinking water from Bulawayo.
You can take a guide from Bulawayo or you can get a local guide at the shops close to Silozwane primary school.

We strongly recommend these caves to travellers who want to see beautiful cave paintings.
Please follow the green arrows from the starting point.

I really enjoyed the singing, homily, traditions and friendliness at Mass this morning. Sunday masses are on a Sunday 8.30am, 10am and 6pm. There is confession before the 8.30am mass which starts at 7.45am - 8.30am.

We spent 90 minutes walking through the Dams' Park. Having not brought any food as we expected the restaurant to be open, we were advised at the gate that it was under renovation for the next couple of months. So if you are keen on eating here (which would be a lovely spot) I'd recommend bringing something. You can walk from the dams side across to the canoeing, zip line and trampoline section. What was really sad was the level of water in the dams. The dam in the main photo is completely empty and the canoeing one would only be half full at the most. This can't be helped, it's just the current drought situation facing the majority of the country. The amphitheatre was well set up, so would be good for schools or even a random family talent show.

Located about 2 hours from Bulawayo. The road is a little rough so a “bakkie” is better than a car but your don’t need 4wd. So, it’s not very hard and not what we’d call remote.
There is some wildlife around - we saw 3 kudu on the way and apparently there are elephants at night there.
The ruins are similar size and style to Khami with several walls, but not as large as Great Zimbabwe. It’s has similar patterns, some different.
The little museum was sweet with some nice displays. Entrance is US$10pp. There is a guide, but he’s not always available due to the very low number of tourists. The other attendant there did very well to tell us everything he could and also showed us a San (bushman) painting in the big rocks. If they don’t show, try tooting your car horn.
There are drop toilets and picnic shelters.
We enjoyed and recommend it despite it being quite low key.
