The city of Lewiston is seeking volunteers to place flags at individual veterans’ gravestones at cemeteries around the city. Volunteers are needed at the following locations:

Riverside Cemetery, 192 Summer St., 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Rain date is 9 a.m. May 25. The Knights of Columbus is coordinating. There are about 1,600 flags for this location. For more information, call Leo Baillargeon at 207-577-7424.

St. Peter’s Cemetery, 217 Switzerland Road, 10 a.m. Saturday. Meet at the mausoleum; rain or shine. The L&A Veterans Council members are coordinators. There are about 4,000 flags. For more information, call Jerry Dewitt at 207-576-0376.

People are advised to wear sneakers or boots in case the grass is wet, bring a screwdriver to poke a hole in the grass, a water bottle if it is a hot day, bug spray, hat and sunscreen. Be mindful of ticks. Work gloves and hand sanitizer are optional. Children/youth are encouraged to participate, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Wearing company or organization T-shirts is welcome.
