Multiple tornadoes reported in central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The National Weather Service received multiple reports of tornadoes on Thursday as severe storms pushed across Nebraska.

A twister touched down near Bertrand just after 2 p.m., according to the weather service. It was on the ground for about four minutes.

Bertrand is about 15 miles northwest of Holdrege.

Another twister was spotted at 2:20 p.m. near Interstate 80 just east of the Overton exit, according to the National Weather Service.

It was “not fully condensed,” and the touchdown was brief, the weather service said.

Tor ReportsAt 3:46 p.m., storm spotters saw a tornado about 15 miles south of Minden.

Radar also indicated a tornado near Hastings, according to the weather service.

And storm chasers spotted a “very brief” rope tornado south of Grand Island, the weather service said.

Thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes and other severe weather are moving across the state.

Central Nebraska is under a tornado watch until 7 p.m.
