Aurora Teagarden Star Welcomes First Child: ‘New Chapter of My Life’

Hallmark star Skyler Samuels is officially a mom! The actress, who recently took over the lead role in the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries franchise from Candace Cameron Bure, has welcomed her first child with husband Lucas Till.

Samuels shared the news on Instagram ahead of Mother’s Day 2024, as part of a collaboration with the jewelry brand Charles and Colvard. “To all my fellow mamas out there, Mother’s Day is 3 weeks away. Let’s celebrate the hardest and most rewarding job there is by giving a little sparkle to the mamas in our life…they deserve it 🩷💎✨,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself holding her new baby.

The first-time mom is incredibly private when it comes to her personal life. Not much is known about her and Till’s relationship, and she told Heavy.com that they plan to keep the gender and name of their child to themselves. Samuels also revealed that she is currently filming two Aurora Teagarden films in Victoria, British Columbia. She described her experience as a working mother as “wonderful” and “intense,” noting how grateful she is that Hallmark has made it possible for her to bring the new baby along.

“It’s been such a special time and it really, like, marks this new chapter of my life,” Samuels told the outlet. “It’s almost hard to remember like, before I was a mom. What did I do before this little person was in my life?” She continued: “It’s so intense and it’s rewarding and challenging … And there’s a lot of tears and a lot of diapers and a lot of joy and it’s just, it’s so intense across the board.”

“I’m finally getting into the swing of things, and just when you think you’ve like, kind of mastered it, they change completely!” the actress added.

Samuels got her start as a child actress, appearing in That’s So Raven, Drake and Josh, Wizards of Waverly Place and other teen shows. In March 2023, Hallmark announced that the Aurora Teagarden franchise would continue despite Bure’s move to Great American Family. They also announced a new prequel film, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New, which was released that May. The film starred Samuels as a young Aurora Teagarden, who had returned home to Lawrenceton after college to pursue her post-grad degree. She then found herself embroiled in a mystery involving her friend Sally’s fiancé (Evan Roderick).

Ahead of the film’s debut, Samuels told PEOPLE that she did not see Bure out for advice on the role. “When it comes to the new Aurora, though Candace played her originally, for us it was really important that the new Aurora was a reimagining of that character so that she was still very much her own,” she explained. “The threads or little pieces that carry over from the original really are sort of the liaisons between the two worlds.”

It is unclear when Samuels began dating the MacGyver alum or when the couple tied the knot, but the pair were photographed at the premiere of Till’s movie, Son of the South, in August 2021. At that time, the pair appeared to still be dating.
