Starting off with cons, the academic pressure at Oak Park High School is insane. It seems like all the admin cares about is making sure their students have As. There are only a select few teachers who truly care about a student's wellbeing more than getting straight As. My stress greatly increased and my physical and emotional health greatly decreased throughout high school. Another con is the lack of funding for our arts department. I am in choir and theatre and I have seen first hand how our abilities to put on fantastic performances is hindered by our lack of funding. We possess so much talent in our arts department. But, most of the money goes towards our sports teams. I just wish a little more could be allocated to students in music, art, and theatre because they could truly flourish given the proper tools. Moving on the pros, OPHS has a diverse student body, hosts a lot of fun events for its students, is a clean and beautiful school, and for the most part has good teachers.
Oak Park High School embodies excellence in education with its supportive community and dedicated faculty. The warm atmosphere fosters both academic and personal growth, ensuring every student reaches their full potential. The diverse range of extracurricular activities and electives allows for holistic development. While minor challenges exist, the school's commitment to inclusivity and continual improvement shines through. Overall, Oak Park High School offers a top-notch educational experience that prepares students for success in all aspects of life.
Academic oriented, world class teachers, highly competitive curriculum, diverse, good resources, highly motivated students, preparing students for college readiness.
