1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT Free Wheeling

This 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT was initially delivered to DeWald Ford-Mercury of Provost, Alberta, Canada, and was acquired by the current owner in 2017. A subsequent refurbishment is said to have included repainting the exterior, refurbishing the cabin, and servicing the engine and transmission. The truck is finished in black with chromatic tape stripes over a red cloth and vinyl interior and is powered by a 351ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes the Free Wheeling Edition package, a removable fiberglass hardtop, a brush guard, a receiver hitch, a RetroSound stereo and speakers, and a tilt steering column. This second-generation Bronco is now offered on dealer consignment with a Deluxe Marti report and a clean New York State title.

The truck left the factory finished in Raven Black with the chromatic stripe and Free Wheeling Edition packages, and is said to have been repainted as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior features include a removable black fiberglass hardtop, rear privacy glass, low-mount Western side mirrors, a receiver hitch, a front brush guard, and black-finished bumpers. The driver door is said to have been replaced.

Polished aftermarket wheels are mounted with BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires installed in preparation for the sale. A matching-combination spare and a removed tire carrier are located in the cargo area. The parking brake is not currently connected.

The cabin was reportedly refurbished under the selling dealer’s care with front and rear bench seats trimmed in red vinyl with patterned cloth inserts joined by a matching dash, door panels, and carpets. Faux-woodgrain trim accents the dash, while amenities include a RetroSound stereo and speakers, a heater, three-point front seatbelts, and rear lap belts.

A reproduction three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and frames an 85-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles.

The 351ci V8 is fitted with an Edelbrock air cleaner and is said to have received a replacement intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, and a timing chain and gears under current ownership.

Power is sent to all four wheels through a three-speed C6 automatic transmission that was serviced in 2021 along with a dual-range transfer case.

The Deluxe Marti report lists factory equipment, colors, and production statistics along with a build date of June 28, 1979.
