The Fifth Element, in its new incarnation, is a casual-hip dining hangout populated by locals, destination diners and tourists alike. The interior is finished with a winning combination of rustic and industrial decor. Its wide open space is hardly cold or sterile. It is warm and welcoming, made so by earth-toned paints, water walls, touches of soft upholstered furniture and a prodigious bar built from reclaimed old growth pine. Like the space in which it is served, the food of The Fifth Element is multi-textured. Chef Chris DePerro builds flavors that evoke satisfying feelings of home cooking, but done by the hand of a pro. In no way is his food homespun. It is well thought out. It is seasonal. It is fresh. Simply, it is food you crave.

The food was good. It took a long time for us to get served and a long time for us to get a bill. The noise level is also pretty loud but overall it was a 4 star experience.

We looked at the menu 5 times before deciding what to eat and the food needed more flavor. Two of us got the salmon with couscous, and one of us got the burger. The place looks nice, the staff is good, the food so so. Next time I'll check the menu before I go. I've had great meals there before, so I was disappointed.

Loved the ambiance of the place and the service was great! The food was OK. The menu is pretty limited; I wish there were more options to choose from. Many of the items could be made gluten free upon request, which was nice. The prices were OK. Worth a try if you are not too picky of an eater.

Usually love their their mussels but instead tried the barramundi a non-local fish white fish that was very good. Forgive me. A bit noisy, but a nice experience.

Imaginative presentation and preparation of some classic dishes (fried onion appetizer, chicken paillard) and some innovative dishes and ingredients (barramundi, skate). Good, well-priced wine list, but did not have some of the wines that were listed... Service was efficient, discreet, and patient. Decor is plain in the eating area, glorious at the bar.

We went to the Fifth Element for Sunday brunch. As we were from out of town, we picked Fifth Element based on the reviews we read. The food was good but nothing really special. The chicken and waffles had a cranberry aioli on the chicken. The two people that got that thought it would have been better with maple syrup rather than the aioli. I got an omelet which was good but nothing special. The bacon was good. The coffee was good, not great. Our server was very nice but not attentive. We had to track her down for everything from salt & pepper to coffee to the bill. I don't think we'd go back.

We were extremly pleases with our experience here. Really great service, fun atmosphere, one of the best whiskey drinks I've ever had as well as one of the best desserts I've ever had. Highly recommend trying and not too touristy compared to many Newport places.

We had never been to Fifth Element, despite living in Newport for 10 years. We went with another couple who recommended it, and we were surprised and impressed. Waiter was great, cocktails excellent, all three courses wonderful. Will definitely go back again.

Went there to listen to Jazz and have dinner. We were welcomed by a great hostess who gave us a table in the bar when she realized we wanted to hear the music. We ordered a very reasonable bottle of wine and we each had a salad. For our entrée we decided on a Margaretta pizza which was great; the best in my opinion in the area. Looking forward to a return visit.

had a lovely time at Fifth Element - it was empty and quiet when we arrived, but quickly filled up to a vibrant and happy crowd! The service was EXCELLENT- very attentive and professional, great drink menu and a delicious salad that was plenty for 4 of us to share before dinner. Three of us chose the braised lamb shank special which was absolutely delicious - however, the potato was not fully cooked and the entire dish was served luke-warm at best - not hot at all. The 4th person ordered the fish entrée from the general menu and she said it was very good! I would have been happy to give 5 stars for overall experience, but I simply cannot because of the undercooked potato and lukewarm plate. We will go back because the menu looked terrific!

Menu short but great: pizza, burgers plus several unusual appetizers and small plates (spinach balls). Food is reliably excellent. I have been a patron many, many times. Service is excellent. We had 6:30 rez and arrived to the surprise of a mobbed restaurant. The BIG challenge 5E faces is the over the top noise level. I could not hear my partner very well at all, and we came home hoarse from shouting.

Honestly this restaurant was just sort of Meh. I had high hope when I saw “Spicy lamb poutine”, but it was not particularly flavorful. The entrees were forgettable. Decent sangria and cocktail menu.
