History of Art - Hillcroft College - Arts and Crafts Architecture (Hillcroft Campus, Surbiton)
Our beautiful Hillcroft was built in 1877 to a design in the vernacular style by the architect Sir Rowland Plumbe (1838-1919). The School of Ideas at Hillcroft College is proud to present this FREE Art History taster, introducing the principles of Arts and Crafts architecture and looking more broadly at Victorian architecture and the fashion for revivals of previous styles, including Tudor, Romanesque and Gothic.
Merger between Hillcroft College and Richmond Adult and Community College goes ahead.
Following a year of detailed public consultation and due diligence, the Governing body of Richmond Adult Community College (RACC) and the Hillcroft College Council agreed to proceed with the planned merger of both colleges into one new legal entity.

This course is for all abilities from beginners trying something new to intermediate sewers
returning to the subject and wanting to improve their skills.
You can enjoy working on a project from a pattern to match your ability or maybe upcycling,
mending or repurposing clothes. You can indulge in meeting people in a unique creative setting,
and enjoy conversing with other students and get inspiration from each other as you work.
This is an ongoing course so projects can overlap into further sewing workshop courses.
Hillcroft Singers (Hillcroft Campus, Surbiton)
This choir will provide you with the opportunity to relax at the end of the day using the power of song. This is a new choir, and we welcome beginning singers as well as those with more experience. The selection of music and songs will reflect the interests of learners, and will change each term.
You will learn in an adult-only environment from expert teachers with relevant industry experience.
Seasonal Gardening What and When to Plant (Hillcroft) (Hillcroft Campus, Surbiton)
New to gardening and wondering what you need to be doing in your garden at different times in the year? Whether its flowers, vegetables or shrubs you're interested in, this series of workshops can help get you started or develop your gardening knowledge to make your garden even better. You can take each one individually or all 3 to help you throughout the growing year.
Clothesmaking for Beginners (Hillcroft) (Hillcroft Campus, Surbiton)
Ever felt like you cannot find the clothes you would like to wear in the shops? This 6-week beginner?s sewing course is the first step in creating your own clothing, textile products and accessories. You will be taught the skills to start making simple items such as a Tote bag, a small zipper bag and a simple top.
The course begins with understanding the sewing machine, its parts, and functions, and then moving on to learn how to sew straight seams, zig zag stitch, and how to attach a zip. After this course you will be able to use a sewing machine, understand how to construct simple accessories and receive an introduction to working with commercial patterns.
