Through reading this book I learned a very frustrating bit of information about the studio system. In the 1940s Paramount had too many starlets under contract just so they could loan them out to other studios for a nice profit. Usually this was not advantageous for the actress. This was done to Susan a lot. Also, whenever Paramount got angry with Susan because they never really got to know her, Paramount would put her on suspension. So all through Susan's 20s the month's slipped by in mostly minor films and loan outs. Obviously for Susan, Paramount was not a good fit.
Wonderful story of a great actress with no salaciousness. Just well written facts from interviews of those who knew the incomparable
actress Susan Hayward.
Very enjoyable.
