The goalkeeper of Athletico Paranaense, Bento Krepski, is for many one of the great sensations of the current season of the Brazilian Championship.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper of Athletico Paranaense is achieving a great start to the season with Furacão and a team that tried to sign him last year, Inter Milan, will try again for him this summer.

This was confirmed by a high-ranking executive of Inter Milan, Dario Baccin, who stated that the Nerazzurri club is closely following Bento, and that they are monitoring him as a possible summer signing: “It is true that we are closely following the Brazilian goalkeeper Bento,” he assured.

Bento could be the third Brazilian goalkeeper in the history of Inter Milan

Last year, Bento himself confirmed that he was close to going to Inter Milan, a club that put nearly 15 million euros on the table for his transfer.

However, the proposal was rejected and this year there is talk of a possible departure that could be valued at around 20 million euros plus variables, a sum that would make him the most expensive goalkeeper sale in the entire history of the Brazilian Championship.

Inter, now yes, would be willing to bet strongly to take the talented goalkeeper, who has shown great projection and who has already been called up with the Brazilian national team, playing the two friendlies against England and Spain due to the injuries of Alisson and Ederson.

If this transfer materializes, Bento would be only the third Brazilian goalkeeper in the entire history of Inter Milan. The most successful of them all and the first of them, was the legendary Júlio César and the last to don the gloves in the Lombard team, Gabriel Brazão, did not have a great stint with the Nerazzurri.

Júlio César

When talking about Júlio César, it is impossible not to think of the legendary saves and his great contributions to the Inter team that won everything in the early 2010s.

With the Lombard team, Júlio César played a total of 300 matches in which he won 14 titles. A true example to follow for a Bento who, if his transfer is confirmed, will have to bear the heavy burden of being the spiritual successor of the last great Brazilian goalkeeper of Inter, something that the last Brazilian goalkeeper who arrived at the club, Gabriel Brazão, was unable to do.

Gabriel Brazão

Gabriel Nascimento Resende Brazão was trained at Cruzeiro, a club he played for until 2019, when he signed for Parma in Italy. Just a few months later, Inter bought him for 6.3 million euros, but Gabriel never managed to make his debut with the Lombard team.

Gabriel has been loaned to Albacete, Real Oviedo, Cruzeiro, SPAL and Ternana, but he never managed to convince Inter and in February 2024 they agreed to his definitive departure to Santos, a club where he has also failed to establish himself as a starter.

If Inter buys Bento, the Brazilian goalkeeper will have the difficult task of living up to the demands so as not to suffer a similar fate to Gabriel Brazão.

Will he succeed? Only time will tell.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
