Early life and education
Anne and her younger sister grew up in Pensacola where they were raised by Margo and Dr. James Stringfield – Margo is an archaeologist currently working at the University of West Florida while James is a pulmonologist.
Anne studied at Pensacola High School before enrolling at Davidson College, North Carolina from which she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1994.

Steven began working at a very early age – his first job was at Disneyland where he sold guidebooks during the weekends from 1955 to 1958, and had an incidental first appearance in a movie after he was caught in the background of the “Disneyland Dream” film. He began learning tricks and illusions while at Disneyland, and eventually began working at The Magic Shop in Fantasyland.
Steve’s ex-girlfriend Nina Goldblatt helped him find a writing job for “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” in 1967 – Steve won his first Emmy Award for what he did for this show, while his first appearance was also in this show in 1968.
He soon began doing stand-up comedy and could have often be seen on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” during the mid-‘70s. He began releasing comedy albums, which went platinum thanks to the fame he achieved after appearing in TV shows.
He launched his acting career in the ‘70s – one of his first appearances was in the “Another Nice Mess” film in 1972, and he went on to appear in “The Absent-Minded Waiter” in 1977 and “The Jerk” in 1979. His first serious film was “Pennies from Heaven” in 1981, in 1983 he appeared in “The Man with Two Brains”, and in 1984 in “All of Me”. He was the star of the “Parenthood” film shot in 1989 as well as of the “Father of the Bride” comedy movie shot in 1991.
He’s appeared in numerous movies throughout the years, including “The Spanish Prisoner” in 1997, “Shopgirl” in 2005, and “The Big Year” in 2011 among others, nearly 60 altogether.
As a writer, he has written several plays, with his first being “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” in 1993, with other works including “The Pleasure of My Company” in 2003, “Born Standing Up” in 2007, and “Traitor” in 2008”. He is also a musician, who has been playing the banjo since he was 17 – he has played with several bands throughout the years and has with them released many albums.
